hi everyone. So, I'm often uncertain as to where I should ask information-theory questions. They are clearly (I think) OT here, as well as on math.SE. But it seems like these types of questions are asked more on math.SE than here, even though I'd have expected the opposite

is it because this site is more focused on the applied/coding side of things?

@glS, the best place to ask about that is on Cross Validated Meta, not in chat. Few people ever visit here. This is for "gossip, grumbles, and idle chat". FWIW, it's not clear to me that a question about pure Shannon information theory would be on topic here, IDK. Cross Validated is a Q&A site for questions about statistics, machine learning, etc. It is not about coding.
