@NickCox, @CowperKettle, these look like memes to me: a stock image where each person can fill in their own text.

@gung I think that's a good guess. Even if the credit should be divided -- somebody drew a generic cartoon and somebody else thought up the wording -- it is still of interest to me to know who did the latter. But enough for me that it strikes a chord with several people I have shown it to.
