anyone 'round these parts use much repmgr? we're doing some unexpected maintenance on physical hosts and i'm just now realising i've only tested disaster recovery scenarios so i don't have a tested code path for "pausing" a node for a few hours :\

The quality of some answers is deteriorating and sometimes off by miles.

Some super bonehead questions too

That, but unironically

I resisted buying a 32" monitor with my new PC build... but with all the visual studio and flipping back and forth between windows it might be nice to have something that can keep 3-4 windows open at a time

I'm contemplating getting a 3840x1600 screen, although they're very large and quite expensive. I'm just in the process of turning over my kit to stuff with 4k support, but I probably wouldn't have bothered otherwise if I didn't want to upgrade my screen.
I got a Thinkpad P52s the other day - my older machines (W520s) are fabulous computers and still powerful enough today by and large, but they're very heavy and don't have proper 4k support.

Or maybe the UHD version with the higher refresh rate, but that's the same aspect ratio /resolution of what I currently have so not entirely sure if it's worth doing.

That one's a full-fat 4K. I'm planning on an ultra wide one as it does give one more room for (for example) more editor panes side by side, and perhaps a browser, command shell windows and so forth.
For much the same reason as you say I think a conventional aspect ratio 4K screen wouldn't be a major improvement on the 2.5k one I have now.
The major strikes against getting the big 24:10 screens is the size and cost. They're nearly a metre wide and cost £1,000 or thereabouts. The Eizo one I looked at was more like £1,500.

That would make the most sense to upgrade to, but yeah, cost is prohibitive

Got a 34" Dell Alienware Curved 1800R IPS for gaming two years ago, which I am now using for "Working from Home". Nice.
Have to down-size remote sessions for video conferences as screen sharing packs in due to the higher resolution.

I have an older dell 34" curved monitor and yeah, it's fantastic. I wouldn't mind having a little secondary screen but my home workspace is 36" varidesk sit/stand thing so there's no real room for a secondary monitor
But sharing the whole desktop on virtual meetings is a no go...

4:19 PM
I have a similar issue. I used to have a large desk with room for multiple screens, but I'm trying to get my work space into a smaller space. I can make room for one large screen - at the moment I have a 30" 2.5k screen (NEC PA-301W) - but more than one screen is really stretching it. One of the strikes against getting a 24:10 is the available space on the desk.

Q: MySQL-Wordpress Scalability Issues

thepolWe are looking to add up to 20 million "custom post types" with 100K+ categories and variations" and potentially at least 50+ million images in a Single-Server MySQL-MariaDB-InnoDB-Wordpress environment. What is the best approach to handle MySQL database scalability with this large bolume of data...

This is some serious trolling right here

How can I place my replication slave beyond the event horizon for disaster recovery purposes and still run read-only workloads against it? My queries never return anything.
