Yeah, as Ms. Monica said, I have a question I hope can be answered. Both Hitchhiker's Guide and Jonathan Strange have Lemony Narrators (the term used by tvtropes). They both interact with the story in at the fourth-wall level, but I'm wondering what exactly makes them tick, what makes them different and gives them the personalities they have, and how that contributes to each book's mood, theme, and style.
That's a pretty broad question. I know HHG, don't know Jonathan Strange. A brief Google indicates that it is a novel that was adapted into a TV series. So which version are you comparing?
As far as 'what makes them tick' and the other comparisons you want made, this seems to be a pretty involved analysis. Are you doing some kind of review/comparison work on these two books specifically?

The book version. I'm doing any professional or academic analysis. I'm doing an analysis so I myself can learn.
I mean I'm not doing anything professional or academic
It's for personal discovery and such

Green DreamsI am a third year undergraduate student at university (21yrs). I absolutely love writing and I want to publish my pieces at some point. I write poetry, short stories, and novels. @JustinAlexander So you're trying to analyze and deduce the character of the narrator in books where the narrator talks to the reader, instead of just telling the story?
I guess you'd need to start with specific examples of that happening
Just like describing any random character in the book, you need to go over their actions
or words, in this case
It's chat day, innit?

Q: When does satire (parody) become plaigiarism?

Lauren IpsumStephen Fry wrote a novel called The Stars’ Tennis Balls, and claimed that only afterwards did he realize he’d rewritten The Count of Monte Cristo. Fry’s novel is set in modern-day England; Dumas’s is in 1840s France and Italy. I haven’t read either to say what else is similar or different. My ...

@KitZ.Fox yup
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 How large can excerpts be before they're considered illegal distribution?
@JustinAlexander ask a judge. But unless you're planning to reproduce, say, whole chapters, I wouldn't worry about it. For the sake of brevity though, you probably only need a few sentences here and there, and you can summarize the context yourself.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 HHG: "Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was Oh no, not again. Many people speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the Universe than we do now." and "It is possible that her remark would have greater attention had it been realized that human beings were only the third most intelligent life form present on the planet Earth, instead of the second.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 JS: "In case there are any readers who do not remember the magicians’ booths of our childhood..." and "Such were the hopes and schemes that animated the heart of Mr Norrell's dearest friend but, unfortunately for Mr Drawlight, so cast down was Mr Norrell by Sir Walter's rejection that he scarcely noticed the change in the style of entertainments and Drawlight succeeded in punishing no one but himself."
I'm not sure why you're pinging me with those?
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Sorry sir, I gravely misunderstood. I thought you were requesting excerpts.
@JustinAlexander ah. :) I meant for you to collect the excerpts for your analysis.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Yeah, I get that now. I'm requesting help because I just can't quite put my finger on what I'm looking for.
