10:21 AM
@Jolenealaska Oh no :( I take it you have some sort of a plan to prevent that from happening?

4 hours later…
2:46 PM
@Mithrandir24601 Plan? Permanent retirement down my rabbit hole? I won't call that a plan. I am taking what action I can think of. I'll update later. For now, I'm closing all SE tabs until I have finished what I need to do right now.

3:26 PM
@Stephie boop

@ElendilTheTall <waves>
Baking right now. Or rather, munching on the cutoffs.

what else is baking for

Chocolate cupcake recipe made in small springform pans.

i vote for cherries and cream

Noe there were these domes...

3:31 PM
there was a programme on the food of Vienna earlier this week
Gib mir Strudel!

@ElendilTheTall I have never dared to try a Strudel.
Maybe this fall, when I have a load of apples.

the pastry looked like a total nightmare
of course the chef made it look easy
i guarantee you would find me dead, suffocated on filo

Pulling something so thin that you can see through it? Gaaahhhh!

also they had the most perfect looking schnitzel in some Michelin starred place
Mangalitza pork
cooked in pork fat
I make a fairly decent schnitzel but damn

Ohhhh, my great-gran cooked with Schmalz.
I am pretty ambiguous when I am dealing with that.
Both fond and disgusting memories.

3:38 PM
:)

I need an idea how to get a bit more height to my cake. If everything fails, I will bake another cake layer.
One layer of cherry filling is „one cherry“ high.

something on top?
chocolate shards
surrounding lofty peaks of whipped cream
or a disc of chocolate on top of the first layer of cherries on which to place another layer of cherries

Possibly Italian buttercream instead of a jam layer...?
Or whipped ganache?

ganache

I think I need another layer. Light/vanilla probably.

3:45 PM
chantilly cream perhaps

Ok, so here is the new plan:
Chocolate layer, split, with amelanchier jam inside. Cherry layer. Vanilla sponge layer. Cherries again, chocolate/jam again.
Probably frosted with Italian meringue, because it piles and pipes so beautifully.

with a side order of insulin

Decorate with cherries and rose petals.

i've never had Amelanchier jam, but we had a tree in our back yard back in England
beautiful blossom
the birds saw to the berries before I ever got a chance to try one

@ElendilTheTall it’s only a 18 cm cake.
@ElendilTheTall The sparrows (our trusty cohabitants under the roof) are voicing their disapproval whenever we go and pick some.

4:00 PM
we have the world's loudest wren in our back garden

But as they can’t make up their minds about whether they should raid the amelanchier or the neighbors’ cherry tree, it’s like in the fable of ass between the two haystacks.

reminds me of a nice Savoyard saying I read about the other day
"Toujours ma chevre monte et ma femme descend"
My goat is always going up the hill, and my wife going down it

Poor man!

the French are never happy tbf
:D

Says the Englishman. :P

4:13 PM
I'm only half English
and I'm also classified as a New Scot these days
we are all cheerful warrior poets, don't you know

(But who am I to talk. We invented concepts like Weltschmerz.)

exactly
and anyway, where do the English come from? Germany!

Famous German export goods: Royals and royal spouses.

rockets
🤭

>.<

4:18 PM
Famous British exports: Americans
Sorry about that
I have a confession to make
I'm addicted to drinking brake fluid. But it's ok, I can stop any time I want!

Ouch.

and on that unbelievably humorous note, I bid you adieu
may your cake rise to stratospheric heights
o/

5 hours later…
8:59 PM
I just spoke to my lawyer. I feel better than I did. I'm pretty sure I'll be OK and I may still make Weidner bleed.
@EddieKal ^
@Mithrandir24601 ^

@Jolenealaska Nice :) You'll do a good job... Eventually

@Jolenealaska Glad to hear it. If you have not got fair housing involved, you need to. Trust me. Things that come from them carry a lot of weight with judges

The lawyer seems to be of a mind to have my back, but to be a cheerleader more than a litigator as far as trying to get aggressive.
@EddieKal My lawyer is ALSC, which basically is fair housing.
He's into making sure I keep my housing assistance, even if (egad) I'm evicted.
That's a risk/potential reward balance I can live with.

9:20 PM
@Jolenealaska That's good. But I would still recommend fair housing. ALSC (legal aid?) is not the same as fair housing. HUD also has their own department dealing with fair housing issues.
If your case is presented to a judge as having an open HUD investigation, it is going to be something else
Your legal counsel is not neutral in the court's eyes
@Jolenealaska That is a problem and it could be because you found that lawyer through ALSC (did you?)

My lawyer is ALSC

Enriching themselves on subsidies. check
The 2-hour thing alone says that to me.
