Q: Is "vegetable base" a common term in English?

brilliantHow do they refer to big roofed places, in which vegetables, having been brought from fields, are kept before being taken to various outlets to be sold? I thought "vegetable base" was a good term, but it looks like Google doesn't return many results. Besides, Wikipedia doesn't have an article on...

@Mazura honestly hearing vegetable base I think like a soup that starts with vegetable stock or something instead of a physical location

Vegetable based vegetable soup is a thing?

user15026
so, I'd say, not in that context

I'm wondering about it as a thing, not the OP's actual question

@Mazura what else would be based on? ;p

2:20 AM
Vegetable stock is a thing.

and no, I don't think that's what they called it.

beef, chicken, tomatoe

*tomato
maybe to-mah-toh.

patato
"vegetable" can't be a base

Well, military has bases. Vegetables do not
You can say vegitable based foo
but you store vegitables in a warehouse?

2:24 AM
Idc where they're stored. :) I care about "vegetable" being a base for a soup.

Sometimes in cold storage
ah
Do we use base like that?

base : "describe[s] a food where a vegetable is the primary constituent" - I don't agree with that either

Vegitable based works. But I've never heard of a vegitable base.

user15026
shrugs I've used it and heard it used such

user15026
but it might be local to me?

2:25 AM
This soup has a vegetable base.

sounds abooooot plausible
which is how I tend to decide if english is correctish

The base of a soup is what it's based on, not its amount of anything.
Oh well. I guess I'll just give up before I anger the vegans ;p
{“vegetable base” -better} : ~166k results. {“vegetable stock” -better} : ~2 million results. (minus better because it's a brand name)... NOT COMMON. NOT even if we're talking about soup instead of imaginary buildings.

shrug You asked, I answered. excuses self

In spite of Google not giving good results I was able to find Vegetable Base by simply googling the name of a brand I have used in the past
Vegetable Base is a thing
In this case base seems to be short for Bouillon Base
I appear to have joined the conversation late :[
