@hobodave, @yossarian- Does a selected answer cease to be the selected answer when it gets a negative vote count?

I downvoted an answer that was already accepted but was just plain wrong. Its vote count went to -1 and I was surprised that it was also unmarked as the answer.

I have absolutely no idea.

Maybe an accepted answer can't have a negative vote count?

Can the asker unselect an answer? If so perhaps it just coincided with my downvote.

My guess is it was just coincidence.
