Q: Which yuga did Panini live in?

IkshvakuWhich Yuga did the sanskrit grammarian Panini live in according to Hindu tradition?

1:50 AM
@SwapnilDas Yeah that would be wonderful
I would suggest to start with mukhya Upanishads

2 hours later…
3:30 AM

3:58 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Yes. But this can be made possible only if at least 4-5 others join us.

@SwapnilDas We (you, me and @HinduKid )already 3 are there. We can ask @Pandya @Archit @SwiftPushkar to join in.

So you did :)

@SwapnilDas ;-)
@HinduKid beautiful ๐Ÿฅฐ

I used to do this on Brilliant.org, where I was earlier.

4:06 AM
That's the only way activity can be increased lol.

So you already know how to keep the chat a healthy platform for all.

Well, I try.

Guess I got some extra eyes to see the diamond in the crowd of plastic crystal.
/cc @HinduKid

@TheLittleNaruto ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

'plastic crystal' xD

4:08 AM
Yesterday we were discussing, isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

22 hours ago, by HinduKid

But its a mess.. If we never escape Bad Times..
Or Escape Very Late..like when age OLD..

Yeah that
Let's start with Ken Upanishad

I spent 100 rupees on that so yeah xD

@SwapnilDas man that's my favorite, and I can't say no to that.
๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

@TheLittleNaruto Great.

4:13 AM
@HinduKid you have any other Upanishads in mind to discuss?

Well, till the pandemic is over ( no time soon), we can go on and on.

I'll be back after taking shower and morning pooja. Meanwhile you guys conclude on selecting upanishad.

No..Sorry.. I havent Studied any Upanishad in Detail.. YET

@HinduKid You're like 16 or so?

@SwapnilDas 17

4:16 AM
@HinduKid Are bhai you're young. You have lots of time to study.

@SwapnilDas Yes..Of_Course Ill study Upanishad.. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@HinduKid At most do one thing. Download Isavasya Upanishad in your kindle app.
I am reading Isavasya now, same way.
@YouKnowMe Hello! Nice to have you on the chat.

@SwapnilDas Me too :-)

@SwapnilDas Yes.. I downloded Isha Upanishad SriAurobindoAshramTrust

Q: About Vedic calender/Hindu calender?

HinduKid Please briefly explain Vedic Calender and do include these in your answer. How did Ancient Hindus keep track of their days, time? Did they follow like 7 days is a week/ 4 week a month/ 12 month a year? Where can I get a Vedic calender version instead of Sunday, Monday or January, February. I...

I want to track my days the Vedic way.

The concept that I was referring to is highly jyotishi in nature.

Whats Concept Called?..
I know about Vedic Time.. 30 Ghati, from Sunrise to sunset..
and Pal, Vipal.. But Dont Know about..how Week, Year was Tracked..
When does Week Start..or Year Start

@HinduKid These are metrics of time.
@HinduKid Do you want to understand this concept?

@SwapnilDas Ha.

Ok listen.

4:34 AM
@SwapnilDas Yes..Im here

@HinduKid You will know me -_-

@YouKnowMe ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ

Every planet has got a specific karakatva. Like Moon is emotions. Jupiter is Apara Vidya (Spiritual Knowledge), Venus is Para Vidya and material world, Sun is Power and Govt. etc.

@HinduKid :-)

@SwapnilDas Ok..then

4:36 AM
Accordingly, the first day of the weekend decides which one is your first priority.
Some 200 years, the concept of Sunday as the first day was started.

@SwapnilDas So..First Day differes from Person to Person?

The reason being, everyone wanted the Government to be deemed important.

@SwapnilDas Oh..

@HinduKid Most people obey the government and behave as it says. So No. But the people who study Shastras (Like us now :P ), for us Jupiter is most important.
So shouldn't be keep Thursday as the first day?

@SwapnilDas Ok..๐Ÿ˜ƒ ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

4:39 AM
And our holiday will be Wednesday, signified by Mercury the karaka of doubt, promiscuous nature and questioning.

@SwapnilDas ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

So, we reject it, in a way.

@SwapnilDas Monday Karakatva is what?

Moon. So if you want a life driven by emotions. Start with monday.

Earth belongs to Which Day, and Karakatva?

4:43 AM
Earth is not given any planetary significations. The reason being we reside on it, so it can't influence itself.
Her son, has been given (who?) though.

@SwapnilDas OK..๐Ÿง๐Ÿง
@SwapnilDas Moon?
Mars?

Search on Google, who's called Bhumija?
Armies should start their day on Tuesday, promoting Martian Nature, and rejecting their emotional type.

Yup, Mars
Bhลซmija (เคญเฅ‚เคฎเคฟเคœ).โ€”a. earth-born, born or produced from the earth. (-jaแธฅ) 1 the planet Mars.

@TheLittleNaruto ?

@Archit Hello!

4:47 AM
@Archit Hello ๐Ÿ™ƒ

@Archit We were wondering if you could join us for a weekly discussion.

@SwapnilDas Yeah That's fine. Let's confirm the time and then schedule a weekly event here: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/info/15189/hinduism?tab=schedule
@SeverusSnape @Pandya @Panibotal @Arka1998 @hanugm @Kulfy @LuckyPashu @RakeshJoshi @Ram @VedantaNewBie @YDS @user1952500 Will you guys be able to join for weekly discussion on Upanishads or Vedas or Puranas? We are thinking to start it every Thursday evening.

5:11 AM
๐Ÿง everyones silent ๐Ÿ™ƒ

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ต
We shall wait. :)

5:24 AM
@SwapnilDas @HinduKid I think 10:30 PM IST would be perfect time

@TheLittleNaruto From 10:30PM to 6:30AM discussion..
Lets not Sleep ๐Ÿ™ƒ ๐Ÿ™ƒ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

@HinduKid whaaaaatt?
๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@HinduKid We want to study Upanishads not Tantra Vidya :P

@SwapnilDas lol
Sources for ishavasya upanishad: swami-krishnananda.org/disc/disc_186.html
It also covers commentary
We shall start the event from coming Thursday

@TheLittleNaruto Yeah.

5:31 AM
@SwapnilDas Please schedule the event.

@TheLittleNaruto Let the event be from 10:30 PM to 12:00 midnight.

And don't worry if not all showed up. Even if a total 2 participants are there, that should be enough.

After 12'o clock is called Kali Maa's time. @HinduKid 's subjects will be relevant then.

@SwapnilDas xD

@SwapnilDas ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

5:34 AM
@TheLittleNaruto Yes, mostly that happens at the beginning everywhere. When people see a good discussion happening, they automatically join afterwards.

Yeah, nice move.............. @TheLittleNaruto

Event would start like this:
1. Everyday we will discuss on maximum 2 verses.
2. One of us will share the verses and the translation.
3. Questions on the verses should pour in and as per our understanding we should start the discussion.
@SwapnilDas Yes correct
@hanugm It was all @SwapnilDas plan. :)
@hanugm Hope you will participate :)

@TheLittleNaruto Oh, I thought we'll discuss the entire Upanishad that day lol.

@SwapnilDas ๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต
Entire Upanishad? That would be too much to digest for the brain

@TheLittleNaruto Because, mind you, the participation will be extremely low if we go that way (have experienced that :( )
@TheLittleNaruto The whole world's a stage, and you and me are merely players :)
I thought, let us study the Upanishad before Thursday night. Then we can discuss questions on that.
Your scheme can be implemented after guaranteed minimum participation.

5:43 AM
@SwapnilDas That is like a home work before the exam, and yeah that's fine. But not all participants will know the verses; so let's follow the steps I said above.

@TheLittleNaruto Hmm ok. Let's experiment to the big step.

@SwapnilDas It's okay! We will never know who all gonna participate
If you schedule event, it'll notify all chatroom of SE sites before 10 minutes

@TheLittleNaruto Oh! Never knew that.

@SwapnilDas So It is possible many would join.
We anyway have pinged many.

@TheLittleNaruto Now it seems likely.

5:46 AM
So we expect few of them too joining the discussion.

Is there any analytics page that I can check for activity?

@SwapnilDas Convert IST 10:30 PM to UTC and then schedule.
@SwapnilDas what kind of activity?

@TheLittleNaruto Chatroom activity.

Q: Did the Ashvakus feed on Flesh?

Pe DroHindu mythology have illustrated several times, how kings (Dashratha in Ramayana), go for hunting. The purpose of hunting has always/mostly been to enjoy the sport and obtain the skins of the animals like the Tigers/Lions. But when they go for hunting a deer, with not much value for its skin... w...

@SwapnilDas You can check the transcript
Also if there is a useful discussion which you think should be bookmarked, you can do that as well

@TheLittleNaruto Btw, how do I schedule events?

Q: ancient science to debate

juztcodeI thought 'tarka shastra' was the search text I was looking for, but the books I found were rather modern writer's literary text. What I was looking for the science written by the rishis, I just found a few hints in prabhupada's book of the bhagwad gita, that quoted techniques like the 'jalpa' . ...

2:09 PM
@HinduKid @SwapnilDas Check this link: hinduism.stackexchange.com/…

Good day. What are some good tag descriptions for the tag ? It is used often, but it is blank.

@SeverusSnape Let's take this an example: Lets say somebody found a verse posted on some random blog and they are looking for reference of that verse from scripture. In that case they can use the tag.
Similarly it can be used for the reference of stories or any event which may have occurred in itihasa or Puranas reference

2:25 PM
For questions asking for reference to particular verses, events, etc in scriptures. It is sufficient?
@TheLittleNaruto

Yeah
It'll go through the review process anyway

I will try to add it later today. Thanks :)

No worries :)

@TheLittleNaruto Yes, I'll try to answer the questions if I have some knowledge on them, thanks for notifying :)

@SwapnilDas Thanks! There is a monthly award as well, if your answer will be well received as in most upvoted, then you may win 100 rep bounty, which will be awarded by @Pandya

3 hours later…
5:04 PM
@All Good Night

5:40 PM
@HinduKid Good night :)

Q: Are there really 330 million gods we worship? Where can we find a reference to this?

Sudharsan MadhavanWe as Hindus are encouraged to worship our own Ista devata but are told that there are over 330 million Gods whose blessing we seek during auspicious like weddings, etc. Where do we get this number from? Is this derived from Vedas or other scripts? Is there a list of names for all the 330 million...
