Q: Is auspicious place for marriage is as important as auspicious time?

hanugmIn Hinduism, it is customary to consider auspicious time for marriage. It can be found across several scriptures. Consider the following as an example for it from Valmiki Ramayana "Oh, Brahman, the savants acclaim that part of the day as the best for wedding ceremonies when both of the pre-...

Q: What does it mean by Vidura entering Yudhishthira’ body?

KetanAs explained in this answer, Vidura left his mortal body and entered Yudhishthira’s Possessed of great intelligence, he then (by his Yoga-power) entered the body of Yudhishthira, limb by limb. He united his life-breaths with the king's life-breaths, and his senses with the king's senses....

@Hinduismbot the poem says good one [person] not good man

Yeah
There is a bug in Tamil script that the letter representing the sound "au" is indistinguishable from two letters making the sound "oLa"
I've told them to change it, but no luck so far

edit yourself

Haha I could edit the post, but not the Tamil script itself :D
Do you think it should have transliteration?
The translation is from the source, so perhaps should be disputed in answers haha

6:44 AM
It must have. I didn't understand th equestion at all

The source also has transliteration, so OP just didn't bother to paste it

Who cares if users don't understand. Right!
when people are not bothered about Devanagari, they should not be bother about Tamil too.

@Zanna I was just joking about bug reports here
@NogShine many people can understand Tamil, so it's fine ;)

Q: Why the name 'Salagrama' shila?

ParthaWhy are the Vishnu Silas found from Gandaki river called 'Salagrama' Silas?

I wrote transliteration
I wonder what the goal of transliteration should be
People who know a language can write whatever they like to each other, whatever will be understood is fine
But I try to transliterate so somebody unfamiliar with the language will be able to hear approximately the right sound

Q: What does Sri Ramanuja mean by saying "Pasupati-Mata' is 'Anadaraniya'?

ParthaAccording to Sri Ramanujacharya, 'paupati-mata' is non-adorable as it is against the Vedas: "pasupati-matasya vedavirodhaad asaamanjyasyaad cha anaadaraniyaa iti uchyate" (Ref: Mahaprabhu Sri Gauranga, Radhagovinda Nath, Sadhana Prakashani, page 541). @Zanna What's the Tamil Word? in Sanskrit, Purusha is used for men but it doesn't mean Purusha always. Purusha means humans in many verses. Vedas are A-pourush-eya (Pu becomes Pou) = not written by men..of Divine Origin.
@BhargavRao Vijayawada Kanakadurga, Srisaila Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga. I think many temples in Andhra claim Adi Shankara installed Sri Chakra.

I've written about Kanakdurga, as I found a reference. Didn't get any related to Brahmaramba

@BhargavRao Checking official website.

ah. They've used "adisankara" as one word.

@BhargavRao who?

The official website
I thought you mentioned that..
:p

8:27 AM
Thought Kanakadurga temple site :P

um, yeah. Could have been that as well.

@TheDestroyer the word here is "oruvar" meaning a person or one person... the suffix "ar" can make many words into a type of person, like "tamilar" means "tamil person/people"

@Zanna Thanks. got it. In telugu it is, "Okaru"= Oka + ru

I've visited 9/10 there.

Btw, Adi shankara visited Kashmir and ascended kashmir sarvajna peetha.
Which is Sarada Peeta that is in ruins in Sarada valley in POK.

Yep, but I didn't find much docs about him establishing the sri chakra at hari parbat

@BhargavRao Ok. Will check.

thanks.

8:41 AM
@BhargavRao Which temple you missed? Vijayawada?

Nope, Nellore.
I saw the Kanakadurga temple by stroke of luck..

@BhargavRao ohh. Ok. Even this is new to me.
Didn't know that temple.
@BhargavRao You said before i think.

Yeah, I might have mentioned it..
I usually don't believe in miracles, but that one was

Temple name of Nellore reads "Sri Mallikarjunaswami Kamakshi Thayi Devasthanam". They used thayi instead of Amma. Hmm..

Thayi is Kannada ...

8:46 AM
Tamil also.

Thayar is Tamil, I guess?!

Thay +ar = ar is used as honorific.

@BhargavRao hiya! nice to see :D sorry I went to get ready for work
@BhargavRao :O

Ok. Anyways, nellore comes from Tamil word. Nel (paddy) + ooru (place) which is both telugu and Tamil.

@AnkitSharma you had your own cook? wow what a luxury!

@Zanna getting cook and maid in India is easy
And cheaper

Heh, I used to cook myself, and clean the room myself.
Heck ... I didn't have a washing machine and dryer for the first few days.

who does it now?

After that I got one.
I still cook myself, but use a vacuum to clean. Easier that way ;p

I like cooking

9:21 AM
Yup, cooking is fun.

I don't get much time and don't like household work

baby how are you?

But it's quite a common scene here to get maid or cook and far from luxury

baby Till when you will sleep?

@AnkitSharma I didn't mean it in a negative way... I meant, that must have been very nice for you
time to go to work

9:27 AM
@Zanna heheheh no misunderstanding here either just explaining in general :)

Yeah... the only person I've met who had a cook was a German duchess XD

Yeah I know it's way expensive there and in most of other places

@TheLittleNaruto hangum was expecting baby
Actually do anyone know why Shakti is to left of shiva and Tha yar is to right of Perumal?

@AnkitSharma I have worked on PHP in my last of last employer
@AkshayS oh

hmm nice

12:12 PM
@TheLittleNaruto and what about now?

12:35 PM
@AkshayS Similarity of tattvas?
@AkshayS Is Perumal synonymous to Vishnu and thayar to Lakshmi?

@AJ mostly HMI. You ?
Recently got a chance to get my hand dirty in Python.
Python is very simple unlike Java (being verbose)

A J
@TheLittleNaruto php.
@TheLittleNaruto same here

12:53 PM
@AJ Did you like it ?
@AkshayS Not sure. Left as in seated left to Shiva ?

A J
@TheLittleNaruto yep. waiting to get my hands on it again.

@AJ Nice. Do you also like/know ML ?

A J
I don't know ML, but would like to try it too.
If you have learned Python, you should try ML as well.

In that case, take the Google free course of ML which is based on Python and Tensorflow.
@AJ yeah right

A J
@TheLittleNaruto link or I have google it?

A J
@TheLittleNaruto Thanks. :)

I had started long back but left in between the chapters where the Tensorflow was supposed to start
@AJ np buddy

A J
@TheLittleNaruto Means I have to check Tensorflow before or it will be covered in that tutorial?

@AJ it'll be covered. It'll start with basic concept of ML like Regression etc

A J
ohh
@TheLittleNaruto Does it provide any certification we can take after tutorial?

1:07 PM
@AJ it does, but for that we have to pay iirc

A J
ok, it's not a big problem but things in the exam will be asked from that tutorial?

Ummm... More or less.

A J
Hmm
let's see

I mean there might be questions which would look out of box at first look

A J
maybe
but let's learn it first. we can take the exam later.

1:13 PM
Right. You'll find it very interesting
And will learn how can module training etc can make loads of difference unlike traditional programming

A J
ohh. That sounds good.

@TheDestroyer if u look at Vishnu temples, thayar is right to Vishnu. And Shiva, agama, Amman is left to Shiva

1:31 PM
@AnkitSharma awesome
@TheLittleNaruto Java grammar seems weird to me

@Zanna wait I didn't understand

@AkshayS don't we have question about sitting in left/right already?

I read that as programmer lol @Zanna

@TheLittleNaruto I mean compared to Python which is easy to understand

@Zanna Java is easy to understand when you get trainer like the great one and only TheLittleNaruto.

1:34 PM
Ooh :) :)

;-)
But yeah Java is easy. Yeah I do agree that it is not that simple as Python

Q: What is the basis of this image of Goddess Kali?

Partha The dhyana-mantra of Dakshina-Kali quoted in Tantra-saara says that She is holding Kharga in Her upper left hand, chinna-munda in lower left hand, abhaya-mudra in upper right hand and abhaya mudra in lower right hand.(Reference:Sastramulak Bharatiya Saktisadhana, Upendrakumar Das, RMIC ,Vol.1, ...

@Hinduismbot Shiva looks blissfully happy in that picture

@Zanna She is his energy and experiencing his own energy is making him happy :-)

I know that feeling :D

@AnkitSharma i dont know

@TheLittleNaruto Thanks for explanation, very helpful

@Zanna sure thing :-)

1:46 PM
@Zanna when you unite Mana - Buddhi, your masculine, femnine, your incoming breath to outgoing breath, when all these unite = You will see yourself as ATMA!

When you inhale and exhale, it produces the sound "hamsA". One who observe it consciously, it'll alone help the Yogi to realize his real self.
This sound is combination of two words ham and sA which represent Shiva and Shakti
Almost all the scriptures of Hinduism points to the end goal which is nothing but self realization or Moksha.
And they talk about certain practices one should follow.
Above breathing observation is one of the example practice.

When you observe this, what kind of thought/feeling do you get?
Going to clean house and cook, back later

@Zanna you won't get any thought after this... thoughts are arrested!

@AkshayS Because Vishnu= Devi. They are siblings and have same tattva.
But i didn't observe much about Vishnu and Lakshmi. So, not sure if this is universally correct. Not sure which side Sita stands in Sita Rama temples.

@TheDestroyer that's correct. .. but after I understood on tantras amd linked with this, I think there's relation to human body. ... shiva temple is form of male human body and Vishnu temple is Female body... that's why Kungumam is given in Vishnu temple and Vibuthi in Shiva temple.

4:28 PM
@AkshayS Tattvas. Agni is Shiva and Devi/vishnu is Soma. World is either full of ShivaSakti or HariHara.
I will soon post a Q&A on this.
I think Devi is also worshiped in Shalagrama form.
More importantly, vama means spreading. Shakti is spreading form of Shiva's consciousness. Vishnu itself means spreading or pervading of consciousness. Same Tattvas are explained differently.

Q: What are all the incidents mentioned in the scriptures where Asuras have tried to destroy the Earth?

IkshvakuWhat are all the incidents mentioned in the scriptures where Asuras have tried to destroy the Earth? I know of three: Bali's sister's attempt to annihilate the Earth, Hiranyaksha's submersion of Earth into the cosmic ocean to drown all life, and Hiranyakashipu's invasion of Earth and subsequent ...

@TheDestroyer I don't deny this. At cosmic manifestation, sthula and Sukshma comes. Sthula is Prakriti and Sukshma is Purusha... coming to your point of tattva, Vishnu = devi that's why I think the temple structure of Vishnu represents that. ..with Balipida in shiva at 1st and vishnu its next to Dwajas..

@AkshayS Parvathi is sister of Vishnu. Hence same tattva.
That's the reason even why Shiva got attracted to Mohini form of Vishnu. Because it is same Tattva.
Stories can be allegorical.

@TheDestroyer i am not saying on basis of sister but from Jnana way...

@AkshayS See tattva. Tattva is same only.

4:37 PM
@TheDestroyer yes we both are saying same thing only....that's what am saying on Vishnu temple
