Q: A question related to "Wrong attribution to Bhagavad Gita", should be kept open

iammilindBhagavad Gita is inarguably the most famous scriptural text among Indians due to its concise nature & popularity of Lord Krishna. Now such enormous popularity also gives rise to misconceptions and wrong information around it. Considering that I started below thread: Which famous quotes are wrongl...

Q: In which scripture is brahma mentioned for the first time?

@TheDestroyer Lol I can't read Hindi

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury ohh..You can't read Devanagari??
@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury What i said is Samskrutam actually.

@TheDestroyer Nah, the only language I can read properly is English. I can read French and Bengali to an extent but no Hindi or Sanskrit.

@SuryaKantaBoseChowdhury ohh ok. Actually learning Devanagari is quite useful. When i was in 10th, i didn't even understand a bit of Hindi but only know how to read and write Hindi. It is very useful now for me. Even if you go to North Indian states, it is Devanagari in most of states.

Q: Is there evidence of Samudrika Shastra being used for selection of kings/spouses et al?

S KFrom what I understand Samudrika Shastra is like phrenology which is largely discredited in the West. I read that Kanchi Saankara Matha uses "Samudkrika lakshnas" (among other things) to select the next Shankaracharya. Is it recorded anywhere else that this Shastra was used for selection?

Q: does any scripture say different castes should draw water frm different wells?

S KIf you know Tamil, you can read on u-tube an interview of Shiva Ayyadurai considered the inventor of email in which he says he was told of this practice in childhood by his mother and how upsetting he found it to be. Is there scriptural basis for this?

Q: is there a scriptural basis for using silver vessels to avoid caste/sub-caste ritual pollution?

S KI am aware of Brahmin sub-castes that wouldn't eat at other Brahmin sub-caste homes even as we speak (2018). One can easily imagine their attitude about eating at a non-brahmin home. Silver is considered unpollutable - so if a "polluting" caste/sub-caste member asks for water, they would give i...
