Q: Why are the techniques of kriya yoga a secret while it is mentioned in Gita?

happybuddhaThere is an air of secrecy around kriya yoga and its practice. While all teachers/gurus tell that kriya yoga is clearly outlined in the Gita - then what is the point of secrecy ?

5:26 AM
@NogShine man u have become nice

@AkshayS Huh? I am always nice.

@NogShine Yes.... u have become even nice

Cool. Why do you think so?
Because I rejected an edit? ;-)

@NogShine What edit u rejected?

@AkshayS An edit you suggested yesterday.
(Shouldn't have spoken about it -_- :P)
@AkshayS Because?

5:31 AM
@NogShine you mean on Atharva veda edit? The spelling was wrong and it showed community rejected it

@AkshayS There were other major edits missed. Community rejects edits when the edit conflicted with previous edits.

@NogShine oho....

Just a suggestion : Improve whole post ,grammar and tags while suggesting edits.

@NogShine sure....

btw, I posted that question on MSE I said few days ago.
That was closed as duplicate..

Q: Was there some glitch while synonymizing [favorite-tags] and [tag-watching]?

Nog ShineIt has been a while since favorite tags were renamed to Tag watching and some new features were added. When that happened, a new tag [tag-watching] is created. This was created as a master tag of already present favorite-tags. However, there is some inconsistency after this process. There ar...

Q: Was Adi-Shankara initiated to Kriya Yoga?

Akshay SThere is a general belief that Adi Shankara was initiated to Kriya Yoga by Mahavatar babaji. But do we have any authentic reference from our ancient texts for it? Does Adi Shankara himself talk about Kriya Yoga for realizing Brahman?

@NogShine haha I don't start hat hunting before cleaning teeth XD thanks for the heads up (pun intended)

@Zanna I started by answering an old question. Got a revival badge for that.

Q: Will the scriptural statements about continuous creation be falsified upon liberation of all as per Advaita?

Q: Will the scriptural statements about continuous creation be falsified upon liberation of all as per Vaishnavism?

krrAccording to Vaishnava Vedanta, this world is not the place to stay. And the real goal is to reach Vaikuntham. If all the jivas in the world attain mukti, then does the scripture statements about creation again after pralaya have any meaning. Is there any need for lord to create this world again?...

@NogShine sounds attainable

9:01 AM
@Zanna Yes. I am trying for a necromancer badge. It is my favorite one on SE

answering old questions is the best thing you can do on SE imho
the thing I most hate to see is a comment on a late answer telling a user off for bothering to answer an old question
I am going to look for some unanswered questions in my favourite tags on Ask Ubuntu

Answered stats fell to 77% from 77.5% last week. I hope that will be restored at the end of Winterbash.

Ask Ubuntu's is 66% :( but it was on 65 when I joined :D I am fighting for that number

Swift Pushkar and @TriyugiNarayanMani used to answer a lot. Now Triyugi is only reviewing and voting.
Swift Pushkar is inactive.

I am also only reducing unanswered questions by janitoring instead of answering. Time to change that
I notice various interesting upvoted questions on this site without answers when wandering around

9:09 AM
Others like Keshav Srinivasan, Tezz are visiting but not answering. So, I am adding my two cents.

I wonder why people are not answering any more?

but votes on posted answers, I can't fill their part.
@Zanna On AU?

yes
sorry for being unclear

No need to apologize :)

@NogShine I didn't understand what you said here

9:12 AM
@Zanna It's a chain of events. Answering standard has been increased. People are thinking that only scriptures are allowed and putting unsourced answers are comments. Unsourced answers are flagged immediately within an hour As i said already, when pointed out, they say they don't have sources. "If I post this, my answer will be converted to comment. Hence I'm commenting directly"

ah yeah... it seems to me not everything is a matter of scripture!
like that question about whether there were any temples of Mohini

but scriptures are not the only sources here. There are many other valid references.

I hope so

Comments are the root cause of unanswered stats.
and all other problems.

if something doesn't meet the standard to be an answer, it shouldn't be posted at all. Comments are not for low quality answers. Visitors read comments... they don't know that comments are not Answers

9:18 AM
Yes. Exactly.

9:38 AM
@NogShine You are keeping your good work up :)

dedication :D

@Zanna Sorry. I mean, I may try to write up answers instead of them but answers als need votes so that % increases. I can't vote instead of them. It needs their contribution too.

@Zanna Ha ha. Yes

@NogShine oh yes, voting also needed

@TriyugiNarayanMani How are you ji?

9:41 AM
a good way imho is to write a community wiki answer based on someone's good comment

@NogShine I am fine. Thank you

when I do that, I ask for upvotes in chat, no bad conscience

What about you?
@Zanna I am voting

excellent

@TriyugiNarayanMani Same here. Thank you.

Q: My concern about the use of mythology tag

DharmaputhiranOne of my question has been edited and tagged under mythology. The question was about Mahabharata and Hindus believe that Mahabharata is not a myth but an authentic history. Myth and history are contradictory. Of course, I know that there are two meanings for the word myth: (1): a traditional s...

9:48 AM
@TriyugiNarayanMani Yes. Linked. I hope this doesn't trigger tag removals from questions again. We are only using it for stories. It's not a very bad word and it has other meanings too.

@NogShine yes

but I think this user is a bit.... traditional and emotional than others.

Yes. I think too. I have seen some comments

baby wiki Vigyan Bhairava tantra

The Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra (sometimes spelled in a Hindicised way as Vigyan Bhairav Tantra) is a key Tantra text of the Trika school of Kashmir Shaivism in Sanskrit language. Cast as a discourse between the god Bhairava and his consort Bhairavi, it briefly presents 112 Tantric meditation methods or centering techniques (dharana). These include several variants of breath awareness, concentration on various centers in the body, non-dual awareness, Mantra chanting, imagination and visualization and contemplation through each of the senses. A prerequisite to success in any of the 112 practices is...

baby wiki Raja Yoga

In Sanskrit texts, Rāja yoga () was both the goal of yoga and a method of attaining it. The term also became a modern name for the practice of yoga, when in the 19th-century Swami Vivekananda equated raja yoga with the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Since then, Rāja yoga has variously been called "royal yoga", "royal union", "sahaj marg", "classical yoga", and "aṣṭāṅga yoga". == Etymology and usage == Rāja (Sanskrit: राज) means "chief, best of its kind" or "king". Rāja yoga thus refers to "chief, best of yoga". The historical use of the term Rāja yoga is found in other contexts, quite different than...

@Zanna if you can't practice tantra be a Karma yogi. Doing duties with truthfulness, sincerity, selfless, will give you same benefit what a Dhyan Yogi gets.
