8:11 AM
Good morning!
Finally some work again

1 hour later…
9:33 AM
Work is good. Work == job security && work == not boredom

1 hour later…
10:41 AM
@ConorMancone Yeah, but no work == videogames

2 hours later…
12:16 PM
I just got confirmation I'll get a raise in April
N O I C E

12:46 PM
Congrats!

thanks

1:16 PM
@MechMK1 Congratulations! Especially with the practically-world-wide panic, that's awesome.

@ConorMancone Thank you. I'm very excited to not be a noob anymore

You passed that threshold a while ago. Sometimes job changes help make it more obvious, but you don't need a raise/promotion to not be a noob anymore :p
Although I understand - my new job is the first job I've had with real, honest-to-goodness, good benefits. I've been joking with my wife that I'm finally a tech guy now, despite doing this full-time for a decade or so now...

Yeah, it still feels good to get a raise. Nothing huge though. I will still get like 2200-ish euro per month after taxes

:) I have no idea how much that is in Europe! Not looking for an explanation though because, either way, yeah for raises!

@ConorMancone Eh, still on the lower end of the bell curve

1:30 PM
My very first full-time job in the programming world paid me $45,000/year (before taxes). It was a very small company (when I first started it was just me and the owner), and my salary was still the biggest expense for the business. In terms of cost of living in the US, $45,000 with a family of 4 made me near the poverty line. Still, I stayed in that job for 4 or 5 years. Next job came with a big raise.
Which I guess is just my way of saying: you've got plenty of years ahead of you to trade up for better jobs (or move up in your current company). You obviously have a very in-demand skill and, from what I gather, are really just at the beginning of your career
Especially as the tech industry goes more and more remote, your options will only increase with time.

Yes, absolutely. I'm not being salty either. I'm in it for the job, not the money

Oh yeah, I totally get that. Money is a big part of it for me because now I have a bunch of people I have to feed. Even still though, I would never accept a job that I didn't actually want to do. A big part of why I've been trying to switch to the security side of things is because after a decade, building business automation solutions has just been getting boring

Q: Can same image take more space? Reverse from compressing

John DoeI want to make image file to be exactly 5mb, but I don't want to resize it. Can I do it somehow?

@ConorMancone Yeah, luckily I'm not yet in a stage of my life where people truly depend on me
Also, that guy is almost the definition of a skiddie. He sees a script, complains it doesn't work (he thought it was PHP, but it was bash), then asks people to instead give him a version that runs on windows

@MechMK1 Ouch, that's actually painful to read. That's about as bad as the guy yesterday who managed to break into a windows server (running ASP.net) and wanted to know how to install PHP so he could use a PHP reverse shell... ummm..... you need to think that one through a bit more.....

@ConorMancone I wonder what it is with PHP and people asking bad questions...
Now that is some pot stirring

1:41 PM
@MechMK1 lol, that might get you in more trouble than the "usual"
PHP: The programming language for skiddies
Think my marketing campaign will catch on?

PHP - Why let the fact that you know nothing stop you?

It just needs to be an acronym... hmm....
PHP: Please Help me Program?

Holy shit, my sides

PHP: Perfect for Hopeless Programmers
?

I'm laughing so hard

1:44 PM
/I'm here all day

What in the world is that?

It's topkek, don't you see?
Basically, the internet version of "haha funny joke"

It probably tastes terrible but now I want to try one (it is an actual snack too, right?)!

Yes, it's a turkish cake snack
Probably tastes good, but I never tried one
Like a muffin with jam inside?

1:49 PM
Mmmmm.... jelly filled donut...

They're actually good
I really like doughnuts with strawberry or raspberry jam filling
But the best was the Hot Brownie gifted to me by god
Do you want to know the story?

Sure, why not

So one day, I was really high, and my mom came home
And I was like "Hey..." and she immediately knew I was high :D
And after a while I asked "Can we go to Burger King?" and she drove me to burger king
And after I had finished, my mom asked "Do you want a dessert?" and I was like "Yeah!"
And so I went up to the cashier and I was like "One hot brownie, please" and I was sure she immediately knew I was high
She was like "Oh hey, lucky you. It's the last one. Do you want whipped cream ontop?" and I was like "Yes please"
"Do you want chocolate sauce on it too?" - "Uhhh...yes please!"
And it was amazing! 50% brownie, 50% chocolate sauce
I was certain that it was a gift from God for something good I had done prior
And it tasted amazing
Some say, miracles save lives or such. But I am sure sometimes a miracle can just be eating a Hot Brownie with Chocolate Sauce

@MechMK1 lol, I actually agree with that last statement.

Especially if you eat the last one
In all honesty though, I wish all the best to that Burger King worker.

2:39 PM
And the Security+ test got cancelled again
Guess I'm pretty much stuck waiting until late April or May

No worries, better than dying :D

True
But excessive studying for months on end could lead to insanity
