This is an interesting bug. It's also why I always keep kernel.panic_on_oops = 1!
The idea that a BUG_ON() does not trigger a kernel panic by default is so stupid. One of the first things I do with new machines is set it to panic when that happens.
Hell, even a WARN() should trigger a panic.

2:11 AM
I don't really like their fix though. Changing a value from 32 to 64 bits to avoid a refcount overflow seems sloppy, even if it would likely work. I far prefer PAX_REFCOUNT.

@forest Morning.

Yes for sure.

8:23 AM
Not even sure... it's totally unclear though

8:35 AM
To the CTF team: does anyone even know when / where we can register for the CTF this week-end?
@TomK. @Arminius @HamZa

uuh
good question
no idea
didn't check anything yet
can you try ctf.dragonsector.pl ?
it's blocked by my work's proxy
@BenoitEsnard

No DNS record for this host

ah.. then it's not the proxy
hm, dunno
page says nothing
blog says nothing
there's an email address
twitter says nothing as well

Anonymous
Yeah...

Anonymous
No details at all, I was just looking myself.

8:48 AM
I'll send a mail then.

Anonymous
Maybe go in their IRC and ask?

Anonymous
> IRC: #dragonsector @ irc.freenode.org
E-mail: contact@dragonsector.pl

I think they'll probably take the CTFtime list, won't they?

Anonymous
Yes most likely.

Anonymous
Some CTFs have their own registration as well.

Anonymous
8:52 AM
I guess this one doesn't then.

Well, I've just registered our team on the CTF Time then.
Let's wait 24 hours.

Anonymous
Shame, I would play but I am so busy this weekend, I need to smash this CCNA-Sec out the way now.

Anonymous
I really cannot fail again else I am going to be so behind for finishing my OSCP before my contract expires here so.

it's only 24h
and you can hop on and hop off
it's like a bus ride
it's probably also the best training for your OSCP ;)

Anonymous
Yeah it is.

Anonymous
8:57 AM
But I need to finish this exam first.

Anonymous
I might be able to find some spare time.

Anonymous
We shall see :p

11:33 AM
I don't understand why some people go through all the trouble of writing an answer that basically repeats everything in all other answers

Anonymous
Because some people have a desire to always put their two cents in?

Anonymous
But I do agree, he wasted a lot of time.

12:10 PM
@TomK. it's a frown upon technique called "hop on the rep-train" :_)
ps: i didn't read the answer nor the question

don't trouble yourself. here's the essence: browser security is important

Anonymous
lol.

Anonymous
Hmm, I'm looking at KeePass plugins, and I came across this - github.com/andrew-schofield/keepass2-haveibeenpwned

Anonymous
Seems really helpful, but I am not sure I like the idea of it at all

Anonymous
> "This checker sends a small portion of the password hash to HIBP and then checks the full hash locally against the list of hashes returned by HIBP. This service does not send your password, nor enough of the hash to expose your password to HIBP."

12:16 PM
what does "locally" mean here?
do you download the DB first? O.o

Anonymous
Let me check.

ah no, "returned by HIBP"

Anonymous
Yeah.

Anonymous
I mean, it looks really quite helpful but... I am not sure I like that idea at all.

Anonymous
KeePass has some really cool plugins though!

12:18 PM
well, that's the idea of HIBP

Anonymous
I know.

Anonymous
But I'd just rather suffer with not having the ability to check I think... thinking

Hey all, I've got a weird question that (as I see it) won
Oof, hit enter too soon
Hey all, I've got a weird question that (as I see it) won't be a good idea to post as an official question. I've made a site that sorta steals login information and then posts the info stolen to a public seven days later after sending the victim a popup telling them that they should change their login information not just for the site they're accessing but for all their other ones too due to how easy it was to get that information. I was planning on getting it up and running yesterday but...
A friend found out about it and is of the opinion that it's a pretty scummy thing to do. Honestly, I don't think so, but I'd like to hear more opinions on this matter

Anonymous
You don't think it is scummy to steal users passwords then make them publicly available?

Anonymous
What?

12:24 PM
I mean, the way I see it, by making the users aware of their poor practices, they'll do better next time

Anonymous
It could also be considered illegal in some countries if not most.

^ this

Eh, probably, but I'm sure I could work around that. I'm really only worried about how moral it is

but are you really stealing their passwords or is there just a banner that says "I could've stolen your password. you shouldn't trust everyone on the internet, lulz."?

Morality is very relative to one individual / community

Anonymous
12:26 PM
E.G - I wouldn't do this, it's not morally right and potentially will land you in jail.

for questions wrt moral you should probably enter the philosophy channel.

Anonymous
You may it like you're "helping" people.

Anonymous
But you're not.

It steals the info then there's a popup telling them about the password being stolen and telling them that they have a week to change it, then a week later, it goes live on the wall of shame

Anonymous
You're just making peoples passwords available to the Internet.

Anonymous
12:27 PM
Which isn't helpful at all.

Anonymous
Telling them to change it okay fair enough.

Anonymous
Uploading it to the Internet, no.

Anonymous
That is borderline a crime if not borderline then it is a crime.

I wouldn't go so far
but it is definitely amoral in my book

Anonymous
Well, I don't think it is remotely helpful to anyone at all.

Anonymous
12:28 PM
How is a wall of shame helpful?

'Hello, your password just got stolen. Please change it in the following week, because we're gonna publish it anyway. We're really nice to say that to you, but not enough to not share the infomation'

Anonymous
Sure, maybe a wall of shame like PlaintextOffenders, but actually publicly listing their password isn't helpful.

Anonymous
It's just potentially illegal.

the important point here is: they haven't asked for any of this

Anonymous
The other important point is that your friend is right.

Anonymous
12:29 PM
This is immoral.

That's fair, glad I asked. The intention was to really shock people into not falling for this kinda trick as if it's not extreme enough, I doubt anyone would actually change their stuff. But yeah, thanks for the input, this won't be happening.

it's something else if someone goes to your site and you'd guess the password or you'd crack a hash on demand. but nobody that tries to sign up on your page wants to be pentested

Anonymous
Also, I think you could genuinely potentially get yourself in a hell of a lot of trouble with the law.

last thing
some people could probably lure victims to your site to steal their passwords the minute it goes onto the "wall of script kiddo"
ehm sorry "wall of look at me, I'm a cool dude"

Hahaha, yeah
Hence the seven day delay
But I get why that isn't enough

Anonymous
12:32 PM
Even if it was 100 day delay.

people might not change the password on all sites

Anonymous
If the user doesn't change all their passwords then it's over.

Yeah

Anonymous
It could be a three year delay it doesn't change the fact that most non-technical users would completely ignore that message.

this serves no purpose but to promote yourself

12:34 PM
I see why one could be of that opinion :)

Anonymous
@TomK. By the way, I wouldn't even consider this amoral.

Anonymous
That implies that the OP doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, E.G he doesn't realise this kind of service is just not right.

Anonymous
Immoral would mean he knows the difference between right and wrong and continues to do it anyway.

Anonymous
Oh, nevermind me did say he doesn't see a problem with this.

Even worse, I thought this was right

12:46 PM
probably the first UEFI rootkit found in the wild

Wow.
Someday we'll find the first exploit transmitted via electricity.

looking forward to that day

This paper is much easier to read.

Anonymous
I'm not great at reading academia style papers.

Anonymous
I get lost easily lol

12:54 PM
a german article where they report about this rootkit has this nice quote: "..we already knew that the NSA and other professional cyber criminals used eploits like this.."

Anonymous
I feel like when I read a paper, I need to take notes.

Else I just lose myself.

A: Exploiting XSS in jQuery without equal character?

geforceGTX480You can try the encoded character equivalent to what you are trying to input. Try using URL encoding on the payload portion of your input to bypass this filter. For instance, you can URL encode "=" to %3D or URL encode <img src=x onerror=alert(0)> to %3Cimg+src%3Dx+onerror%3Dalert%280%29%3E Thi...

Why the fuck this answer has two upvotes??

because .. people?

2:22 PM
The question itself is quite nice

Yeah, I favorited it because I'm curious to know the answer

Not sure there is one
It boils down to: Can you do DOM XSS without HTML attributes?

Unless there's a weird encoding trick

Haha yeah

Btw, I tried DOM XSS challenge on Root-Me

2:30 PM
But the thing is, with DOM XSS, encoding etc are already set - less room for tricking parsers
Solved it?

I have a solution which works on my computer, but I can't get the bot to send me its cookies :(

Got a link to the challenge?

But I didn't use any "DOM XSS" as I understand it, just a typical XSS
(French link sorry)

Récupérez le cookie de session...

2:47 PM
RECUPEREZ!!
IMMÉDIÈTIALY!!
:<

And they say German sounds aggressive

no idea what "they" are talking

To be fair, French is a beautiful language & German sounds aggressive.

sure

Halt! Administrationssitzungskekseroberungsbefehl!
Sounds beautiful to me

2:51 PM
<3 <3 <3
maybe we should just start talking in German
so people will acknowledge the beauty
or something

Anonymous
Maybe we should just talk in English so we can all accept how bad it is?

Anonymous
(Saying that, I cannot actually speak another language so)

das kann man natürlich auch machen

Oh come on

Anonymous
Tom, bitte sei mein Vater.

Danke mein Herr.

Anonymous
How was that Google translate skill?

Google detects "Administrationssitzungskekseroberungsbefehl" as French.

hahaha

Adminstration is a French word, but Sitzungsomething isn't, as far as I know.
Ich bin ein Berliner.

I see your "correct battery horse staple" and raise you a "Vorschriftsmäßige Stromspeicherpferdeanhäufung"
To get somewhat back on topic again

3:04 PM
Are you trying the DOM XSS challenge? :o

I had a look

Did you solve it?
> Registration will be opened shortly before the CTF and will stay open till the end of the competition.
> We'll update this page and provide link to the CTF page once it's ready.
> Thank you for your patience!

@TomK. @Joshua.J

Not yet. Sure you didn't use DOM XSS?
Oh well...
Give me a sec

Well, I'm not sure, but it doesn't look like a DOM XSS to me
> DOM Based XSS (or as it is called in some texts, “type-0 XSS”) is an XSS attack wherein the attack payload is executed as a result of modifying the DOM “environment” in the victim’s browser used by the original client side script, so that the client side code runs in an “unexpected” manner. That is, the page itself (the HTTP response that is) does not change, but the client side code contained in the page executes differently due to the malicious modifications that have occurred in the DOM environment.
From OWASP

Yeah I found the non-DOM XSS

3:13 PM
I guess you found the one I used

Didn't poke the params at first because I expected something DOM-related

That's also what I expected
I exploited the non-DOM XSS, and got my own cookies successfully
But I can't get the flag when submitting my payload to the bot :(

Anonymous
@BenoitEsnard Ah I see.

Anonymous
Cheers.

@BenoitEsnard bottom line: signing up with ctftime won't suffice

3:23 PM
@BenoitEsnard I'll have a look in a sec
First need to fix my payload
Didn't expect these "fun" bonus filters

@TomK. Well, not surprising, I haven't heard about one CTF without its own registration system
@Arminius You mean the location one?
This is the only one which is "fun", as far as I know

Yeah
Shouldn't be an issue though

Yeah, easy to bypass once you know some JS magic

@BenoitEsnard yeah it's kinda silly
I have a dozen username/passwords in my pw manager for some weird ass CTFs we attended ages ago

I was sat at work excited that I am going home soon.

3:28 PM
Why don't you delete them? :o

Then I realised I need to study, and now I am sad.

because I'm too lazy

Might get Chinese for dinner tonight though which is a bonus.

Anonymous
Chinese and NA-Sec labs.

@Joshua.J Maybe if you ask nicely

Anonymous
@Arminius Last time I asked to leave early, I got laughed at.

Anonymous
And then called a "part-timer"

3:58 PM
Wow, I am about to hit 100 rep :D

4:37 PM
@BenoitEsnard The bot doesn't like my solutions either

4:51 PM
BTW, instead of accessing window.location you could also just realize there's an iframe on the page...
Did you try other XSSes - did the submission work there?
