How do chat pings work, can they be explicitly disabled?

@Arminius no
if you've posted recently, people can respond to you and it will ping you, if you are signed in to the room, people can @ ping you
if a moderator needs to get ahold of you they can always ping you
but reply pings only work for a limited time if memory serves
the idea is that if you haven't been active in chat for a while, only mods can ping you
but mods can ping people even if they've never been in chat before

Thanks, that makes sense
I was wondering if pinging Jeff in chat made any sense. I pinged him on meta anyway.
It's funny how we're all about breaking things and everything's insecure, but we can't even get into our own CTFtime account

I can ping him if you need
@JeffFerland see above
there you go

@Arminius Allright, let's hack CTFTime

Thanks, I also did below the meta post, so I figured he'd see that
But maybe he isn't even the admin
@BenoitEsnard I think they were quite clever in not rolling their own authentication but just doing third party auth

that doesn't mean you can't break it

Which of course can still be vulnerable
Yeah but it still takes away a lot of complexity

@Arminius Lucas owns that. @LucasKauffman
Of course, he hasn't been signed in for... a very long time

hey
I checked his profile recently (when I tried to find out who owns the team) and it said something like "seen yesterday"
so it seems he checks in from time to time

7:27 PM
@JeffFerland Thanks!
