@kalina not good! That's the problem with lots of heart defects - no warning until suddenly Bam! Neighbour has a kid whose heart suddenly did weird things in a swimming pool and they thought he had just nearly drowned. It wasn't until it also happened on a football pitch that they realised. Sort of fine, but now carries a pacemaker everywhere. Until he is old enough to have one implanted.

and now she's not even breathing by herself

completely shattered my view of mortality

all that's going on in my head is that for some reason I am of the opinion that the human brain doesn't survive more than 10 minutes without oxygen

and it took 20 minutes for the ambulance to arrive

not to mention several minutes at the start where we were trying to work out what was going on

Q: Is there any defensive element for non-standard voltages on networks?

Assume that an attacker join to our network as a good person and we give him a cable that is connected to one of our switches. Now, If he connect the wires of that cable to a high voltage (60v for example), what happens? Our switch burns and some of our clients will disconnect. (And also may th...

on the subject of power, ya know what's weird. home UPS' even good ones have like 2 9Ah batteries and cost multiple hundres of quid, but you can by a 100Ah battery for about £120

you'd think they'd just stick that kind of battery into the UPS for 5x capacity easy

but I'm sure there's a reason they dont....

I just take most of my income as cash

the amount of tax I pay is only reflective of money I'm paid leaving a paper trail

for now, anyway

the amount I earn from cash is starting to exceed the amount I can reliably spend on "living" (ie: stuff I can buy cash without raising eyebrows)

so I'll probably have to start doing something sensible with it all soon

like literally handing it out to strangers in the street.
