@Gilles definitely too broad and likely primarily opinion based too, even unclear what he's asking since he's not giving much detail and then splits it into two sub questions that are just as broad
and with so much to do, only 4 months and no experience, it's pretty ridiculous that he'd be tasked with it
@KnightOfNi it's also possible they haven't a clue how to do that and still keep their secrets secret... i.e. they probably wanna test it in a production environment
01:21
@TildalWave And also highly likely.
hey @Scott ;)
what's new in your stretch of the woods?
we just had a fantastic early spring for about a fortnight so I haven't been online all that much
looks like we're getting some rain in the next days tho
01:50
@RoryAlsop Rofl, that's just silly

@TildalWave Spring pretty much just started this week. It's been a long cold wet winter.

Should we migrate this question to security.SE?
1
Q: What is the idea behind hashing the QueryString in OAuth?

Michael StumIn OAuth 1.0a and 2.0 using MAC Authorization, I need to generate a hash of all the QueryString Parameters, which requires normalization (alphabetical ordering) of them. I'm trying to understand what this offers from a security perspective over just generating a hash of Secret Key + Nonce + Time...

To whomever going through old answered and resolved questions that are 8/10 on-topic here, please stop throwing crap in the review queue.
I suspect it's someone who has turned 3k recently and is playing with his newly discovered functionality. Take it easy, buddy.
@CodesInChaos why? It seems on-topic on crypto, it's about a cryptographic protocol
I was just looking through code golf's old questions... still haven't found one where a Python script won :(
the only interesting questions on Programming Puzzles & Code Golf are the non-golf ones, and even there there aren't many
yes, golfscript and J are terser than Java or Common Lisp. So what?
@Gilles I know... I just find it kind of depressing that none of the good programming languages ever win... :)
Goodness, I need to stop using so many emoticons.
@KnightOfNi I can help you with that.
17:10
@Adnan That sounds... ominous.
@KnightOfNi I can help you stop using any emotions.
@Adnan Are you a dementor?
@KnightOfNi No, I'm not. A very nice and helpful person. Ask @kiBytes and @David
@Adnan Having trouble telling whether you're serious right now... How do you plan on stopping me from using emotions?
Because I really just wanted to stop using emoticons...
I am actually very serious. I can help you with that.
You just need to give me your full commitment and submission.
17:16
@Adnan Sure, why not?
As long as we're both talking about emoticons... I'm rather attached to my emotions.
@KnightOfNi Waaaaait a second!
I was actually reading "emotions"
I've just realized you said "emoticons"
Well... it was very kind of you to offer...
backs away slowly
I feel stupid for displaying traits of dyslexia while not having it
If that's the stupidest thing you've done, you're ahead of the game...
@KnightOfNi You obviously don't know @Adnan.
17:20
@TerryChia Based on the conversation we just had, I think he's a bit like the XKCD guy who always wears the hat...
@KnightOfNi Well, I am very good with projectile weapons. Especially rifles and crossbows
I just need to buy a hat/fedora
@Adnan Don't we all...

(UCT) Morning All
19:45
@RоryMcCune The hell is UCT?
@tyler told me about it, think it was UCT, means Universal Chat Time
the idea is that whenver you join it's always morning and whenever you leave it's night
avoids time zone problems :)
@RоryMcCune It sounds like it assumes that you actually join the chat in your morning and leave it at your night time.
Otherwise, it wouldn't make any sense.
So, instead of causing time zone discussions, it causes discussion about whether UGT makes sense or not
it was UGT not UCT
close..
@Adnan well if you think about it , it doesn't really make sense anyway, when I say good morning to a bunch of people for whom it may or may not be the morning :)
20:12
@RоryMcCune Buuuut, you're advertising the fact that your morning is good. In the worst case, you'd be wishing that other people's morning was good as welll.
@Adnan yeah but then I have to think about what time it is when i join ;op perhaps the answer is to move to a non-time based greeting structure...
20:27
Hi gu(a)ys
I feel like not going out tonigh =)
Any techie movie recommendation?
The Fifth Estate
was incredible IMHO
@strugee seen that
*watched
good but not too good I would love to hear the other side of the story =)
@kiBytes yeah
honestly the only other tech movie I've seen recently is The Social Network so I can't help you
20:37
how about Jobs?
Has anyone enjoyed it?
@kiBytes that's a thing?
is it a biographical film?
I think so, but I read Wozniak in g+
saying that it is not accurate at all...
21:10
@kiBytes I enjoyed The Best Offer from those I last saw, it's well written and doesn't have shallow dialogs. And it's not even boring, there's a bit for everyone in it IMO :)
21:27
@TildalWave Watched that, I actually enjoyed it
But I don't think it fits the "a bit for everyone" =D
I gave it an 8 in IMDB :D
@KnightOfNi It's true, I can verify he's a nice person. If a little bit too nice.
I am wandering in /r/movies maybe I will find something interesting
@kiBytes well it has the geekiness = check, romance = check, nudity = increase brightness, check, storyline = check, interesting dialog = check, many colorful places = check ... so all it doesn't have is subtitles for "what just happened?"
yeah, 8 is my rating too
@kiBytes You should watch Seven Pounds. It's a great movie.
@TildalWave Yes, but it is also slow paced and most of the times it just doesn't happen anything =)
21:30
@kiBytes well yes, it's not a martial arts movie
I think this is a film where you have to enjoy the main character
there is one fight in it tho
mainly our protagonist receiving good whacking
@DavidFreitag [ticked]
An 8 as well in my IMDB
@kiBytes Los cronocrímenes? It's ... different :)
@TildalWave That is a very good film
I'm going to put some in my watchlists
I think it is going to be easier =D
Bridge to Therabitia imdb.com/title/tt0398808
The Conversation imdb.com/title/tt0071360
21:36
oh blimey, you haven't yet watched these or you're just giving examples of what movies you liked?
No, I haven't watched those ones
And I have them in my "should watch list"
Angel Heart imdb.com/title/tt0092563 (I don't really know why I have these one in my list)
byt3!
there's a rocket launch (Ariane 5 ECA) we're covering in The Pod Bay, if you dunno what to watch :))
@TildalWave bye!
21:41
I'll give a go to "The conversation"
22:26
@DavidFreitag What do you mean?
@KnightOfNi Ah, nothing. It was a joke.
23:04
@DavidFreitag how dare you crack a joke in a chat that the future of mankind depends on?!
