@TildalWave I just don't drink coffee
oh fun fact
I hadn't restarted my computer since I updated my graphics driver, so it got reverted in LKGC
and now I have this weird state where the update is half installed

12:18 AM
@AJHenderson you have a newborn, you don't need to :P

Flyby voting is really getting on my nerves sometimes, also what questions SE considers are worthy of being listed as hot questions. Together, they often bring smaller SE sites to the lowest common denominator of its bigger brethren
There's a reason why I rarely open SO, SU and a few others. Why can't SE respect that damit?! :)

@TildalWave Respect? RESPECT? YOU CAN'T HANDLE MY RESPECT!

@JeffFerland geez you should have that checked then :)

@TildalWave I was already in a compromising position with a doctor today, thank you.

hahaha fair enough

@ThomasPornin Samsung has been improving a lot in that aspect especially with their flagship phones. They (any many other OEMs) don't do so well with the lower end models that they release
And even in the best case it's at least a week before security updates gets packaged after a vuln is announced. That's too damn long.

I think this is the funniest thing I have seen on Twitter today:
When the boy you went out with aged 13 replies to your tragic heartbroken message 2 years later xxxx http://t.co/env5uEhi1i

@raz - thanks for editing that post. The guy rolled it back. He is now suspended. It is a pity we can't really stress the 'don't be rude' bit to newbies.

12:11 PM
could we somehow also add "and product support" into that product recommendation close reason?
we don't seem to have a custom close reason for product support questions and I thought it could go into that one since we only get a few of custom close reasons
or they're too distinct reasons and it might get confusing if they both shared the same text?
So we had one small rep train on space.se (small because it's weekend). What's funny about it is that the top rated answer says "absolutely not", I say "yes it's possible" and we'd both get upvotes at about the same time.
oh, and there's another answer that also says "no" and that one doesn't get as many votes as either of the remaining and contradicting two ...
such stuff happens each time we'd have a question on the SuperCollider
So it turns out (as far as popular votes go) it doesn't even matter what you say because nobody really reads it. I could probably edit some old answer to be 100% wrong and still get "passive upvotes" just because it had many from before

12:31 PM
Definitely pros and cons of getting on the hit list

For small and struggling beta sites I'd say it does more damage than it does good, especially for site's quality. This last example isn't even pressing in any way, but we did have those too with the lesser answer constantly rising above the far better ones just because it was posted before the rest and the voting cascaded
I'd say that if the site didn't yet reach some maturity to be a self-contained community then don't throw it to the lions. Remove all beta sites from the SuperCollider and advertise them for what they are struggling to eventually become, not how they currently are.
If I'd go by votes then it looks like space.se is just a collection of bored pencil pushers contemplating space exploration. It isn't and we've all done a great deal to actually have people in the know and actual doers on the site. And getting those isn't easy and they're often not interested in participating on yet another Q&A site if it can't keep its quality to their standards.
A lot of those also don't vote as often which is a shame and I'm working on it while trying not to be too pushy. It's entirely different than, say, on Sec.SE because this site has a critical mass of experts and experienced reviewers.

1:29 PM
@TildalWave "Critical mass" ? I am not that overweight !

@ThomasPornin Hehe no you're not. And you know what I mean :P Greetings!
that the DMZ is constantly on the verge of going full nuclear kinda proves my point ;)
or ... the Sun
