@RoryAlsop If you're still around, this needs to get nuked: security.stackexchange.com/a/25455
(I've flagged and others have downvoted, but I guess we're not up to the count for autodeletion)
@jonsca Thanks for pointing that out. It's well into the wee hours for all of our mods except @JeffFerland. I'll pass it around and get my posse on it.
@ScottPack Right on. Thanks Scott!
Oh no. Thank you! We don't often get that kind of twaddle. I'd like to see it gone as soon as possible.
Yeah, it's definitely something I'd sooner see on SO or something.
@jonsca Nah, then I would be all cranky that it got 15 upvotes and an accept.

Well played.
We all have our talents. Some are fantastic at their careers. I lay the snark on programmers. :)
It's good to have goals ;)
@ScottPack Only the programmers?
@TerryChia I'm a predator. We prey on the weak, injured, and aged.
Anyway, fellas, enjoy and have a good one!

Q: Did Merkle invent cryptographic hashing?

vy32Chapter II of Merkle's 1979 PhD thesis is titled "One Way Hash Functions." The chapter appears to be the first reference to cryptographic hashing. The chapter has no references. Is there an earlier reference that I am not aware of?
