I'm not sure you're interpreting Catholics' view of Purgatory the way I as a Catholic do. I believe no sin is allowed into heaven, and I should try to confess all of my sins while here on earth. That takes place at confessions with a priest and Jesus present. (If you want me to explain why I’d see a priest, I gladly will). Chances are I won’t be able to confess every sin before I die.
