@Nathaniel @Nathaniel I had a stab at it following that link.

@JamesShewey FYI after 1000 rep you can see deleted content in gray/pink at the bottom of Q&As. No need to flag these for deletion; they’re already “gone”. :-)

I just refreshed the page for

Q: What does "invoke the name of the LORD" mean in Genesis?

GraceThe phrase "call upon the name of the LORD" turns up occasionally in Genesis: Genesis 12:8 (ESV) 8  From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the nam...

But I see nothing in pink/deleted
But the comment is gone now.
I also didn't see any marker indicating it was deleted when I flagged the answer.

@JamesShewey Hm....I’m confused. What did you flag? An answer that you’re no longer seeing?

I had a similar problem for

A: Does the original Hebrew support the NLT of Genesis 6:3?

enegueI think it's important to understand why there is a difference between the NLT and the other translations. The NLT began life in 1962 as Ken Taylor's paraphrase of the NT letters. Almost a decade later, in 1971, Ken Taylor's efforts had spawned The Living Bible, a PARAPHRASE of the entire Bible,...

Q: Why was my answer to the question, "Does the original Hebrew support the NLT of Genesis 6:3?", deleted?

enegueThe moderator, Caleb, said: This answer only presents an argument from authority: scholars were involved in the translation ergo their translation must be good. My answer did not contain any judgement as to the worth of the NLT as a translation. What it did was provide a valid reason for wh...

to that effect
I assume the answer disappeared when I refreshed the page because someone deleted it.
It was just a troll with 1 rep saying the answers were meaningless and we should break down the text of twilight next.

OK, looks like you need 2000 rep to see deleted content, so I was wrong about that, sorry. But I have no idea how it happened that you were seeing the answer on that first one that I had already deleted 5 hours previously. I’m now even more confused.

I don't know. It was very odd. I could flag it, but it did not have the normal flags.
Moderator attention was the only available flag.

4:31 AM
@JamesShewey Right, it’s normal to only be able to choose a custom flag on a deleted post (so you have to explain why you want something done beyond deletion - e.g. reopening). I just can’t figure out how it is that you were seeing that answer despite not having the rep and not being able to see it now.
You generally can not see grayed out content on anything on BH, right?

@JamesShewey Did you maybe open the page earlier? If so, it could have been a cached copy or something - answers don't disappear "live" but when you click an action it correctly knows its current state (I've gotten "you cannot vote on a deleted answer" a few times while trying to DV garbage that I mod hit after I opened the page.)

That is highly possible.
@Susan
No, I generally cannot see grayed out content.

@ThaddeusB @JamesShewey Ah, that seems most likely. Thanks for solving the mystery.
