@ScottS Hi ScottS! I think the only basis for 'anachronistic framework' was his reference to your response. This question is entirely within site guidelines, and in fact generates interest in our site beyond the "how do interpret this in Greek/Hebrew..." which of late narrows our audience. The question arises from the OT text, and can be answered from the OT text.

@Tau @ScottS - No, my assertion that it is anachronistic arises from its assumption of an "end times" setting for these Edom references. "End times", used in this way, is a product of an eschatological expectation that is foreign to the time of those texts. That's an "anachronism". Whether it is on-topic is a different issue. My sense, as I said, is that this (otherwise fine) question would get more fruitful discussion on Christianity.SE (suitably tweaked). That's just my £0.02, of course.
@Tau "beyond the "how do interpret this in Greek/Hebrew..." which of late narrows our audience" - My understanding (and I stand to be corrected) is that the SE goal is to build sites for experts. Appeal to primary sources in original languages is fundamental to that goal. That's just the nature of the beast!

Re: "end times", eschatology, etc. the Encyclopedia Judaica article gives a helpful overview. Note how an "end times" understanding reaches back to Daniel, but really develops in the intertestamental literature and beyond. FWIW.
