Q: Why is Job referred to by the feminine pronoun in Job 1:15?

Niobiusטו וַתִּפֹּל שְׁבָא וַתִּקָּחֵם, וְאֶת-הַנְּעָרִים הִכּוּ לְפִי-חָרֶב; וָאִמָּלְטָה רַק-אֲנִי לְבַדִּי, לְהַגִּיד לָךְ. This verse, Job 1:15, ends with "and I alone escaped to tell you". The "you" in Hebrew is in the feminine form, indicating that it is a woman to whom the servant escaped to g...

^^^ Any idea why this Q would get 1,442 views in 21 hours? That seems like a lot of views in a short space of time for (what seems like) an innocuous question!

@Davïd That's a good question. Usually it means it's been linked from a popular service or blog, but I can't yet find any evidence pointing at one or other.

@JackDouglas Hmmm... With that in mind, I did a little web-seaarch. It seems that as long as 10 hours ago it was showing up in the "Hot Network Questions" listing in the right sidebar on SO/SE sites. Hard to know what's chicken and egg here.

Q: What formula should be used to determine "hot" questions?

Jeff AtwoodRight now the front page Popular tab is fairly broken -- it's a simple descending sort by views. As Joel said in podcast #18, it is "a self-fulfilling prophecy." ^^^^ clear as mud :)
I expect each site gets it's turn however small so we probably get one question up there every month or so (just a guess though I don't think the exact algorithm is public)

A: Ease up on the Hot Network Question Randomness

Jeremy TThis is a recent change which resulted in a 30% increase in engagement. All of this engagement came from repeated clicks. We are not likely to go back to the static list, but we do have improved algorithm changes coming in the next couple of months.

@JackDouglas :) Interesting posts from Meta.meta - thanks!

@Davïd @JackDouglas It seemed like a strong statement the issue of "feminine pronoun". I did not hesitate for a second to see what it was. What seemed to you the question?

@PaulVargas Sorry Paul I don't quite follow your meaning?

@JackDouglas I mean the title of the question Why is Job referred to by the feminine pronoun in Job 1:15? is a bit controversial to me. So I read it before the others.

@PaulVargas ah yes, I expect that's what attracted the views especially once it got on the supercollider
good point
