Tomorrow has arrived !

@Tim That is interesting. How often do you lose the '8's when playing? I moved up from '9's to '10's just to avoid breaking so many at gigs. So now I pretty much use Slinky 10's (or Elixir's) for all my 6 string guitars.

@RoryAlsop Honestly, I've never broken one. Two got broken once upon replacing, as they went on - bad batch? Because they're thinner, they give more. Willow vs. oak ? Downside is slightly less beefy sound. An eq. sorts that though.

@Tim that's interesting. I thought I was pretty good (since changing to 10's I very rarely break strings) and put it down to using a thin pick (0.50s) whereas most of my peers in rock and metal bands here use .75s

@RoryAlsop Don't think the pick thickness is as relevant as how it's used. Of course, if tuned down, like so many do, the strings are not under so much tension anyway, which may help. I only use concert pitch.

10:39 AM
Hmmm - while more and more use a drop D, the rest of the strings are usually the same. I'm concert pitch except for strings 6 and 7 on the guitars I use with this band. Maybe it's just technique...

Hello chaps! Sorry for not joining in earlier. I've either been at work or spending countless hours trying to work out why V is used as a string up bow marking...
