@Mat'sMug - So it seems the PIAs in /Lib are supporting more than one version the respective application?

Yeah

Do we need a PIA for Stdole?

Yup
It's there, isn't it?

can't see it in Libs
and while I see a VisioViewer, I don't see Visio?
or PIAs for InfoPath, Project & SharePointDesigner?

We don't have all these apps on our machines, if you have the PIA's you're welcome to add them and PR :-)
Actually we only need PIA's for apps that support a Run method, for unit testing to work
...or for apps for which we want to implement host-specific inspections
Like "implicit reference to ActiveWorkbook"

12:44 AM
How can I tell which application versions are supported by a given PIA?

AFAICT, we can't know. My guess is that it works because they implement the same COM interfaces across versions

@ThunderFrame You can only add them if they are the Office 2007 PIA - otherwise, it won't compile.
If you have Office 2007 installed, you can get the PIA's from a link I posted somewhere.

@Hosch250 right. I remember all the back-and-forth with 2007 vs 2010 PIA's and Access & stdole stuff breaking my build after 1.22

You can't install them unless you have Office 2007 installed, though.

@Hosch250 are we breaching a license agreement of some sort?

No.
They just don't install unless you have Office 2007 installed.

And RD just hooks up whatever is installed

"If you embed type information from a strong-named managed assembly, you can loosely couple types in an application to achieve version independence. That is, your program can be written to use types from multiple versions of a managed library without having to be recompiled for each version.

Type embedding is frequently used with COM interop, such as an application that uses automation objects from Microsoft Office. Embedding type information enables the same build of a program to work with different versions of Microsoft Office on different computers. However, you can also use type embedd

seems like embedding could work for RD?

yup, that's what we're doing

OK - So the PIAs are only in the source, for prosperity?

lol yeah, looks like it :)
(and so anyone forking the repo could actually build the project ;-)

ah, I see - they're used at compile time...

@Hosch250 FYI there's a bug in move closer to usage when the field is an object variable (i.e. requires a Set keyword for the assignment)
I get this result:
    Set
    Dim wbkSecondFile As Variant
wbkSecondFile = Workbooks.Open(strSecondFile)
should be:
Dim wbkSecondFile As Variant
Set wbkSecondFile = Workbooks.Open(strSecondFile)

A: Refactor of vba function to reduce bloat and repeated code

Mat's MugIt's not clear what FlagBag might be. If it's a class, then the variable rowFlag is used but never assigned, which could be a bug. If it's a user-defined type, ...consider making it a class, since you're passing it around as parameters. I promised I'd run Rubberduck 2.0 code inspections on your ...

Q: Inserting and Populating Chart with Excel VBA

Jean-Pierre OosthuizenMy Code uses a data set which has been modified using another script Calculating Time Difference and then inserts and populates a Chart with that Data. @Mat'sMug bad ass!
@ThunderFrame there're actually there so we have a reproducible build. We were suffering issues with the build server and different devs having different PIAs installed.

@RubberDuck lol, thanks! The ad needs 1 more vote to start being served on CR :-)

Link?

Woohoo! CR's first community ad is up!

Chronicles?
This one needs more votes. It's a good ad. meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/a/6543/41243
@StackCodeReview just got their first community ad and guess who it is? It's @rubberduckvba! http://meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/a/6542/41243?stw=2 https://t.co/82fEtYSxna

@RubberDuck nice!

#CodeReview #VBA - what the ad doesn't say is, it's a #CSharp #OSS project that would love more contributors, too! https://twitter.com/Rubberduck203/status/687980043155468288

Q: Good or bad practice to give function and query same name?

Martin FI have some parameterized queries in Access 2010. They are often used in VBA functions having the same parameters. In such cases, I give the query and function the same name. For example Public Function get_assignments(e_id As Long, yr As Integer, wk As Integer) As DAO.Recordset Dim db As DA...
