Damn, sounds like a shit load of snow, @Mug
nah, just ~10cm of wet white crap
People in Georgia be like "It's the Snowpocolypse!"
lol
That was Buffalo a few weeks ago!
Okay.... Yeah. That was legit though.
My buddy lives there. I got pictures.... crazy.
00:40
2 meters... never seen that. Crazy indeed
We got snow like that when I was kid. Like two winters in a row.
Most I've seen was 2007-2008, we had almost 2 meters.... for the whole winter!
It beat the 1971 record
@RubberDuck what was that question mark for?
@Mat'sMug I remember hearing from family that it was really bad that season
"La tempête du siècle"
@RubberDuck Didn't think Ohio got much snow. I know here in Indiana we barely ever get any. And when we do... panic!
(especially if you're the one Canadian on the road who knows how to drive in snow)

I've updated R1 to "pre-release"
Wasn't sure what that meant.
Ah, it's no longer listed as a "release", rather a "pre-release" like the others :)
Oh. Ooops. Sorry.
And @Phrancis - spot on! I always find it funny when I see Americans panic over 1-2 cm of snow.. mind you, you guys aren't really equipped for it either
@RubberDuck np. It bothered me to see it labeled "latest version" ;)
Americans make it sound worse than it is. Mostly those soccer moms and rednecks driving around in their SUV or pickup truck who don't understand the concept of a speed limit.
posting a CR later tonight Mug.
00:51
Great!
I can drive in 1-2 cm of snow in my 83 Capri just fine, and that's possibly the worst vehicle to drive in the snow
Try with slicks
That... would be a bit tricky ;-)
Here's a hint.

My wife just got home. bbl
lol! Later ducky!
Later man
@Mat'sMug We should have a beer next time I make my way up there around Montreal. You sound like a fun guy to have a beer with!
Sure!
I just found out on Monday my brother is moving from Quebec to Montreal. He works for Ubisoft (bastard)
Woah nice! Top-notch studio of the video gaming industry!
00:57
Yeah, I think he got to work on some Assassin's Creed and such
Probably. But he can't talk I guess :)
I can't imagine how much freaking code has to go into a game like that. WOW.
I heard that is pretty popular for videogames
I thought it was still all/mostly C++
We considered it for Cardshifter, but I think it's going to be mostly Java now
Because Simon says ;)
01:02
May be so. There's something special about the way Lua handles data-related stuff, I think it's mostly being used as an alternative to XML and DBMS
Hmm
Gotta handle the kids.. bbl :)
Have fun!
And there's the popular question badge. I can quit programmers now.
Did you award the bounty?
Nah. There's 5 days left.

Hello. I think this question would be better fit for DBA.StackExchange. It will likely get closed as off-topic here, as there is no code to review. — Phrancis 44 secs ago
Need some VTC, looks like everyone's AFK next door :)
Approach (3) on there is actually pretty close to what we have in mind for game stats and replays on Cardshifter. Seems best to me, anyways
01:36
@RubberDuck wut, you have another bounty up??
Rewarding an answer on programmers.
@Phrancis VTC'd.

Q: Drying Up Very Similar Implementations of an Interface

RubberDuckWork continues on the Rubberduck VBA Editor Add-in. I have a need to call some VBA code from the add-in with Application.Run. Unfortunately, the Application part of that refers to the particular Office Application that is hosting the VBA editor. So, if I'm working in Excel, Application refers to ...

Awesome comment...
    var stopwatch = Stopwatch.StartNew();
    //access supports only single project; I would think it could handle Module.Procedure syntax, but it blows up with a com exception if I try.
    _application.Run(methodName);
haha thanks.
Figured it'd save Mr. Maintainer a headache down the line.
(cough) thanks!
That's a kind thought :)
02:11
now what if you have Module1.Method1 and Module2.Method1?
Blows up?
Honestly haven't tried it yet.
Plausible deniability?

easy enough: test explorer > new test module > new test method; new test module > new test method; run all tests > brace for exploding rubberduck
Exploding Rubberduck
02:16
Exploding bear duck traps...
hahahahahahahahahaha..... oh that's rich buddy.
> If you are calling a procedure in another database use the project name and the procedure name separated by a dot in the form: "projectname.procedurename".
Yeah. Exactly
not sure I get it
> (As a side-note: Scala would offer you structural typing in that case, which AFAIK will use reflection internally.)
wtf, Scala?
rest of answer works though.. but please don't put Abstract in abstract class names... Base suffix is well enough
I deleted my draft
one thing though
I think TimedMethodCall should return a TimeSpan - and yes, that's my bad ;)
02:38
This looks to be exactly what I'm looking for, but what does Scala have to do with it? We're developing this in C#... — RubberDuck 2 mins ago
@Mat'sMug Eh, call it out so I don't forget.
#108 is all yours! :)

Q: set a cell values with 0 at left vba

JesusIm trying to introduce a value like "0001" to a cell with vba but all I set is 1 with no 000 this is my code Dim iRow As Long Dim ws As Worksheet: Set ws = Worksheets(BD_PRODXSIST) With ws .Range("A" & iRow).Value = "0001" End With Set ws = Nothing

@RubberDuck ^
^^ my downvote
Isn't Value2 also an option?
depending on what's actually needed, I'll go either for the apostrophe (if it needs to be text), or a cell format (if it needs to be numeric)
03:06
I was thinking of .Text, but it's read only.
@Mat'sMug I added a link to the PIAs on the Build/Install page of the wiki. Figured it'd prove useful.
great!
And I'm just going to open an issue on the access thing. There's no way to fix it, so I'll just flag it won't fix and write something up.
@RubberDuck any idea how I can have an icon with a caption, without having a button.. on a CommandBar?
Hmmmmm not something I ever thought about.
Short answer is no. No idea.
I mean, everything on the command bar is a control.
yeah, but I can't create a Label just like that...
BTW I'm making Menu.SetButtonImage public and static
@Phrancis lol
03:25
Wrong room :)
Althought, FFVI for iOS is freaking awesome
that's US III?
of course it's awesome!
For iOS?
Ohhhhh gimme gimme gimme
They also have it for Android
03:27
$15 or so?
I think I saw it when I bought FF1
Something like that, yes
The graphics revamp on FFVI is awesome. Then add quicksave and other features
Entering Zozo now... weird place
(zozo song playing in my head now)
ugh
not exactly what I had in mind
I think I'll go with FaceId's for the toolbar... but damn inconsistent icons will get on my nerves
@Mat'sMug ^
^^ NOT!!
I think I like the SNES characters better
I got over nostalgia real quickly
03:42
Oh wow
not too bad...

It plays really good on touchscreen, @Mat'sMug - If you have a device and a little time to spare, I really recommend picking it up

IIRC he turns your PC's into imps too
04:14
If they're alive afterwards, they may turn into imps. That would be the least of my worries, if they are still alive ;-)
@ticker dynamic UI in VBA? hmm..
04:35
^^ getting there...
04:46
@RubberDuck pushed to master
Ohhhhhh what goodies do we have now?
Oh that's cool.
Adding Unit Test support for Office Apps is this easy now.
    [ComVisible(false)]
    public class ExcelApp : HostApplicationBase<Excel.Application>
    {
        public ExcelApp() : base("Excel") { }

        public override void Run(string target)
        {
            base._application.Run(target);
        }

        protected override string GenerateFullyQualifiedName(string projectName, string moduleName, string methodName)
        {
            return string.Concat(projectName, ".", moduleName, ".", methodName);
        }
    }
Nice!
Yeah. New guy hooked me up.
(So I fixed the code he posted....)
@Mat'sMug I messed on first try (as expected) but this is what it looks like
THEY CHANGED THE LYRICS!!
or.. you messed up???? how could you?!!!
04:59
A little of both
They changed the lyrics a bit. I also haven't played this much since I was a teenager
if you mess up the opera, wait till the dinner with the emperor! (a worse place to F-up, if you ask me!)
Seems like they shortened the time limit. Failed 3 times so far.
was 4 minutes IIRC
and it's not supposed to be easy ;)
05:05
Just pushed @Mat'sMug. Let me know when you get the PIAs installed so I can merge. Heading to bed.
Oh wait, if you pause it keeps counting down. Wtf.
good night! I'll just finish this VariableTypeNotDeclaredInspection implementation and then I'll merge - but you can still go ahead and merge @RubberDuck, I'm working in the CodeInspections branch :)
@Phrancis that's to "penalize" you for using items and magic to replenish yourself between fights!
Wait... I just "powered" through it and it still didn't let me complete it... wtf.
@Mat'sMug There are not even fights, it's just singing and dancing. Pick the right lyrics, move to the right place to dance... meh. Try again, I guess.
huh? so how does the 1-ton thing gets dropped on stage and the fight with Ultros begin then?
maybe I'm mixing things up
it's been a little while ;)
I'm just not there yet, I'm at the opera performance just before :)
05:16
ah
Seems to timeout way quicker than it used to, either a bug or on purpose
Guess I need to just hurry the f*** up, hopefully that works
05:48
Meh, just had to hurry the hell up
^^ there's still a "bug" with the selection though

Q: Code Reliability, Building an OPC client in excel

Cody LandryThis is my first question on here, so bare with me. I am pretty deep into building a very multi-faceted little app in excel with VBA. It does a number of tasks all centered around using OPC to get tag values from several PLC's and doing various things with the info, like publishing a webpage (u...

Hi @StackExchange!
I'm browsing random SE sites and found this gem on Bitcoin.SE
"What do you mean? Pay who? – Nick ODell" Go away little man, I'm not interested in playing your little games. — Simon 21 hours ago
have I just stuck a foot in my mouth here?
Why not integrate the data from these CSV files then? Seems like a much simpler approach than trying to programmatically extract data out of a pivot table - SSIS/Informatica is going to do a better job at it anyway ;) — retailcoder 7 mins ago

Extracting data programmatically out of a pivot table... is... Goofy, at best? Pivot tables are intended for humans, not machines...

Q: Calculating Due Dates based on Frequency using VBA

adit123So, right now I have this Excel sheet where there is a last revision date. I have named this column "LastRevisionDate". And then I have a column named "RevisionFrequency" . Hi! Welcome to Code Review! You've spit out a lot of acronyms at us. Could you explain what an OPC and PLC is? — RubberDuck 9 secs ago
In Quebec OPC would be "Au Plus Crisse" (ASAFP)
Haven't heard that in a long time!
Using Google-Fu is was able to determine OPC is OLE for Process Control and PLC appears to be a Programmable Logic ControllerPhrancis 14 secs ago

Q: Ingredient selection for Canadian Poutine dish

PhrancisPoutine is a simple dish traditionally from Québec, Canada. @RubberDuck does this work on Open Office Apps?
Probably not.
More than likely not.
lol
didn't think so. I don't have office at home....
find me a way to hack office 2010 license and I will have it on one of my home machines at the least....lol
19:56
@Malachi Dude even I have MS Office at home, and I'm not a Mac. Get with the program ;-)
2
I don't need it with things like Google Drive and Open Office
it saves me like $100 when buying a computer... at least
Open Office is okay if you don't want to shell out for MS Office, but I can't deal with the way their IDE works. Not sure if the new project is better or not. Haven't tried it.
I installed Open Office once. About a week before I decided to spend a little bit to get Office 2010 Home. Living a happy life since.
