anyone have an idea what to do with a broken puzzle?
i posted a puzzle last week where it turned out the intended solution doesn't work (nice job, me)
now it's unclear whether the puzzle has some other unintended solution as written, or whether it's completely impossible
(in which case proving it impossible is probably going to be a tedious and unsatisfying job)
there are ways to make some of the existing answers work by changing the rules after the fact, but that doesn't seem fair when multiple people have answered
especially because it depends on the edit which answer will end up being the correct one

Q: Racetrack designers, assemble!

jafeNote: Turns out the intended answer to this doesn't work after all (see comments to Sconibulus's answer)... Racetrack is a paper-and-pencil game where two or more players race around a track drawn on grid paper. The game uses vectors to represent each player's movement. General rules: ...

@Deusovi A pagan isn't a non-believer, just someone with different beliefs.

pagan
n 1: a person who does not acknowledge your god
I think "nonbeliever" fits that pretty well
I mean, I see your point, but

> noun
> 1.
> a person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions.
> Paganism was originally a pejorative and derogatory term for polytheism, implying its inferiority. Paganism has broadly connoted the "religion of the peasantry". During and after the Middle Ages, the term paganism was applied to any unfamiliar religion, and the term presumed a belief in false god(s). Most modern pagan religions existing today—Modern Paganism, or Neopaganism—express a world view that is pantheistic, polytheistic or animistic; but some are monotheistic.
@OmegaKrypton I downvoted for a couple of reasons: (1) even though they're not fully solved yet, these don't seem to be following the standard rules for "cryptic clues"; (2) the puzzle requires too much knowledge of esoteric PSE community memes in order to be solved - basically only tSL regulars have any chance.
Not that I'm claiming any superiority here (Deus and Gareth are the CC experts) - I myself posted a similar puzzle some time ago. But the feedback I got there did help me to understand CCs a bit better.
And I think this comment applies better to yours than to mine - "local puzzler" cluing a high-rep user and mod of this site is pretty natural for anyone, but "dog" cluing Rubio makes no sense except to a few people who know the meme.

@Randal'Thor "Pagan" can mean "someone who does not believe in a god". I checked multiple online dictionaries and they work as synonyms - even the Google dictionary, which is where you quoted that definition from, provides "atheist" and "irreligious person" as synonyms. (Plus, "nonbeliever" can mean "someone who does not believe in a particular thing under consideration" rather than just "someone who does not believe at all".)

@OmegaKrypton 150 rep is needed to vote in the election. Also, if you don't plan on visiting Chess.SE with some regularity (and contributing at least occasionally), I would request that you not vote - should I win, I don't want to have to deal with allegations of "recruiting" users from other sites. Of course, whether or not you vote is up to you, but that's my request.
But regardless of whether or not you vote, thank you very much for the sentiment :)
