@Corey Thanks for your response. To answer your questions, the objects to be photographed are plant leaves (small stationary objects) that are outdoors.

@Wilson Outdoor plant leaves are rarely stationary in a photographic sense that they don't move at all. They are almost always being moved by any wind that is blowing.

@MichaelClark Fair point. And in that case, I guess using a tripod wouldn't help.

@Wilson It would help eliminate camera movement, which can also be an issue, but you'll still have to watch your exposure time and may need to add light (flash), even in broad daylight. A tripod with a macro rail can be helpful by allowing multiple shots from the same distance in the hopes that one of them catches the slight movement of the leaves when they are at your focused distance (usually manually set at the MFD).

@Wilon
@Wilson I don't think any phone will work well for macro without an attachment. My wife uses the Moment Macro on an iPhone 6s and, when conditions are right, it returns some great images. However, note that the focus is razed thin, and since you're on a phone, there's no way to expand it because you have no aperture control.
If you look at a product image of the lens, the focal zone is right at the end of the diffuser, meaning you are setting the camera onto the object. Don't use the diffuser and good luck nailing the focus. Do use and you limit the lighting - and if the phone has to bump the ISO to get the shot...well, there are pros and cons to shooting with a phone and high ISO noise handling isn't in the pros column.

@MichaelClark and @Corey. Thanks. Will think this over.

You can get by with a phone and attachment lenses. But, I personally wouldn't set out to spend extra money on a phone with a good camera if you are serious about shooting. Instead, consider a phone with a decent camera and an SLR/Mirrorless

I took a four-day vacation, and again I was very happy with my compact camera. I think I took some decent pictures, although I haven't really evaluated or proccessed anything yet.
I made a lot of photos in a museum where I nominally wasn't allowed to take photos.

I am so glad to have bought this Panasonic, it's made me so happy with its ease of use and cusomizability.

@b_jonas Museum stealth photography is definitely helped by small, silent cameras. Take it to the next level like @PaulRichters did with his PowerShot: photo.stackexchange.com/a/45183/11924
@b_jonas which Panasonic did you get, again?
