@wiss13 Hmmm. Good plan, then. This is what Tim Ferriss would call "thinking like the new rich". I'd try to stick to it, but keep quiet that you apparently have no plan with this company after a year. Good luck meeting your goals.

One key thing that I noticed no one has talked about ... you mentioned:
I come from a developing country
... I'm an immigrant myself and something I learned early on, when in rome do as the romans do
, if you don't it is easy for the locals to start making stereotypes... on the other hand if your skills are on high demand and you don't want to change your lifestyle just find another job

You spend a third of your waking hours in transit. Why even be alive then? Spend 1/3 to live, not going somewhere. "Your work is critically important to our group..... That's why we pay you that much." - Read: we may replace you unless you find a way to alleviate our concerns. We definitely will not be selecting you for advancement.
"we have the 1 Hour rule - they didn't care where you went, so long as you were within 1 hrs drive of the Data Centre."
If you didn't get four hours of alone time everyday, you'd be looking for your own place. I actually envy your lifestyle atm, as I remember it fondly (less the transit part). But it's not really sustainable as a true adult. Maybe somebody has the hots for you and is disappointed that you're not 'on the menu', as you live 2h away, with other people, and dress poorly.
