@NikeDattani As far as I can tell, I see nothing in this room which would require being deleted.

@SamuelLiew Sorry, the user must have an account on the site to get the score!

@selene Hey! Just wanted to say we appreciate the positivity here, and the focus on the future of the site, despite the rocky start. As we mentioned in previous Meta posts, we’re confident that this site can be successful, and it is clear y’all are already a very tight-knit community, which is something that definitely bodes well for the success of sites on the network.

Hi @NikeDattani ! I was reading the transcript for this conversation, and wondering what your goal for it is. We’re at the point where this community is trying to move past the incidents that led to multiple suspensions and trying to focus on how it can have a successful election that ensures its continuity, and I’m struggling to understand where your comments help the community move in that direction.

All I have to say is let's make sure this room doesn't turn into a ranting/complaining room about the mass suspensions. (I am not accusing anyone.) As the description states:
> To discuss about the mod election. This includes possible nominees (don't peer pressue people into nominating themselves), a new date for the election, and other stuff to do with the election.

@JNat Yes, everything about the Bioacoustics.SE community is positive. I love it!

@JNat Hi, tell me if I am wrong but you seem to be among the moderators of the SE. I was wondering (after reading the conversation about the "incident") what SE is going to put in place to avoid this issue in the future. so we can keep being poisitve and this does not happen to another community. (apologies if this has been answered somewhere already).

@AmandineGasc An SE staff member to be exact, a moderator is something different. A SE staff can have moderation privileges, but it's not the same as being a moderator.

Yes, staff outranks the 'normal' moderators.

@HenryWHHackv3.0 ok. thanks for the clarification

But that is not easily seen from a chat profile, so don't worry about it.

ok so SE staffs (if others are here), I would ask you the same question.
@Noil Yes let's launch this election.

4:46 PM
@AmandineGasc Hiya! At this point, I'm focused on getting this community successfully through their first election. Once that's done, the Community Management Team will consider this matter done and establish next steps to prevent similar situations in the future.
So, at that point I'll prolly know a bit better what those might be, but off the top of my head the very least we can do is update guidance so it's more explicit about what types of behaviors for engaging large groups of people are considered acceptable and which aren't.
The Area 51 process is complicated, especially for folks who are new to the network, as noted here and elsewhere.
While I can't for sure say that we'll be able to revise the process in general, I can say that updating guidance is the easy fix we can undertake — in fact, we did update some long-outdated guidance with respects to other parts of the process earlier this year (1, 2, 3).

5:06 PM
@AmandineGasc Thanks for asking this...this is why you will be a good moderator :)
