Yet, if you compare them, you will see that the Shantae trailer looks a lot more like the Kill la Kill art-style
It is also a little more "geometric" if you get what I mean.
I don't really get why they went for that direction when the actual game will reuse part of the Half Genie assets and therefore will be very similar to that.
To be fair, when I said Kill la Kill I didn't mean the fanservice factor, if that's what you think. I meant that Kill la Kill from what I saw has that distinctive "geometric" feeling at times, with lots of straight lines in their character designs
but compare Shantae belly in the trailer, which is very geometric (basically two triangles overlapped ) and her figure in the in-game dialogue artworks.
Yep, that is kinda my point.... all the in-game art has the same art style.
Characters sprites, animations, static ending pictures, the dialogue character artwork....
All the merchandise has that style too.
(Postcards, action figures, key-chains, cleaning cloths and so on)
But the new intro - doesn't really match
That said, I will indeed laugh if they use the "Trigger excuse" to add a Gurren Lagann's Yoko set for Shantae (like the one in this old Deviantart picture)
@Derpy Wow, yeah. That Shantae opening screams Trigger. The Indivisible one is definitely way more understated in that regard. Knowing nothing about Indivisible, I assume it's a bit more serious in tone, but that might be totally wrong.
@trogdor Yes, KLK is definitely full of fanservice. The plot attempts to justify it, but having an in-universe reason for it doesn't really stop it being fanservice.
There isn't really gratuitous violence in the sense of gore/blood/whatever, but there's a lot of fighting in the show - a lot of it's pretty slapstick in style.
I enjoy the show for being utterly over-the-top, and there's some fantastic comedy bits in it (courtesy of the character Mako). It's certainly not for everyone :)
