@TerryBollinger agreed that is the consensus-bordering-on-dogma but suspect the jury is still out, that the full story yet remains. taking minority/ contrarian/ near-fringe/ devils advocate position.

@vzn There are many questions regarding quantum foundations that are still worth investigating indeed and where no consensus exists, but "are there local hidden variables?" is not one of them, since the Bell tests rule that one out.
Why could ACM not just have left this one standing without trying to go into a fundamental discussion? It was a conversation between you and Terry after all, what was the point of weighting your words with gold here? If I have a normal discussion with a colleague and an nearby standing person would interrupt us like that, I would be hard pressed not to request him to please leave us alone, if he has nothing constructive to add...

A: Is everyday probability just a way of dealing with the unknown (not talking quantum physics here)?

Thomas KlimpelTalking quantum physics might nevertheless help to appreciate certain issues and paradoxes. Take for example lemur’s comment: ..., but these hurt my philosophical feelings: QM is Nature’s way of having to avoid dealing with an infinite number of bits But there is a paradox here, since it se...

As you can see from my linked answer above, I am no fan of local hidden variables. But why should I interrupt you every time you say that you "suspect the jury is still out" on hidden variables and proposals like 't hoofts ideas on cellular automata or digital physics?

@ThomasKlimpel If anyone wants to have a conversation without other people potentially giving their thoughts on it, then they should have that conversation in a dedicated room, not our main chat room. If any conversation - regardless of topic - someone has in the h bar is not meant to be potentially joined by others present, then having it elsewhere achieves that goal flawlessly.

@ThomasKlimpel ACM & DS are ganging up/ "tag teaming" on me in Physics against hydrodynamics revolution so have to retreat anyway :|

@vzn You mean you intentionally annoyed them, and now they decided to do something about it?
in theory salon, Dec 13 '16 at 19:25, by vzn
@ThomasKlimpel (who me, intentionally annoy someone?) apparently just the std/ typical/ unchanged/ semithinking "shoot the messenger" knee-jerk reactionary stance, nothing more

(You know better than me whether you tried to annoy somebody or not. From my own experiences with physistics, they are very friendly people that are not easily annoyed, but they can be very stubborn about certain things such that you might be tempted to try to annoy them.)
@ACuriousMind I had read that conversation under the assumption that vzn had again intentionally tried to annoy somebody, with the intention to ask him why he keeps doing this. But after I read the conversation, my conclusion was that at least in this case, vzn was innocent, and it was you who went off on the tangent of a tangent to start that discussion.
(On another occasion where Daniel Sank complained about vzn making unfounded statements, I do think that Daniel Sank was perfectly right to complain.)
