@buoyantforce I am beginning to wonder if all my postings here are being scrubbed or if you are gone totally away from SE Academia. It would help us in advising you in a practical timetable (as changes to university ethics occur so slowly) to know the capabilities of your student and the expectation-level of the Chair who is the parent.
The expectation-level of the Chair is something you would adjudge from your own interactions with him generally, not specifically on any remarks on his son.
