I'll take clickbait thumbnails for $400, Alex
man really threw the phone in a lake with an alligator tho
00:43
suboptimal deals
01:38
@lyxal How does that prove phone locks?
The gators around here can barely do SQL injections, let alone hack into phones
the gator bites people trying to access the phone
which is in a block of cement
which is in the bottom of the lake where the alligator is
Oh, so the gator is part of the lock, not a malicious actor trying to crack it
yup
move over apple icloud lock
this new method is much better
:p

2 hours later…
04:00
@Ginger How do perms work with the commands?

7 hours later…
11:04
@RydwolfPrograms
if you want to implement a perms system you do that on the CB server side
makes the code simpler for the client
(to clarify, the CB client is the MC server)

3 hours later…
13:51
It's hard to resist the urge to keep updating and improving SOCK², even tho I know it's a week until the end of school lol
@Ginger Don't "store" and "war" rhyme for pretty much everyone?
Don't think I've heard any dialects where "war" sounds like "wario"
I’ve heard it a few time
@RydwolfPrograms what’s sock2 again?
My proxy setup

2 hours later…
16:29
@RydwolfPrograms Not for me, at least
I pronounce the "o" like the one in "blow"
And the "a" like "awe"
Do you say staur and war? Or stohr and wohr?
17:22
@user I say wohr (pronounced the same as "wore"). Looks to be an example of the horse-hoarse merger.
Huh, interesting
How have I not noticed people pronounce stuff that way before?
So I've been thinking about how useless LLMs are
then i realized: they are not all useless
LLMs are good at one thing: interpreting natural language
so say I hook up GPT to a discord bot, and with a few of the right prompts I can probably get it to do spam flagging
Be careful, it might get false positives
assuming you can get the right prompt for it to constrain its answers to something dumb code can parse
there is a reason smokey posts in a chatroom rather than flagging itself
17:32
@mousetail yeah, that's why I said flagging, not detection
As in humans still do the actual work of banning
So basically smokey 2.0
Yeah
or you can use it to implement natural language commands
Seems like it would be a interesting project, interested to see how it goes
instead of some slashes you can say "hey bot, do x y and z for me"
Chances are bot will say "Sure thing, " then do the opposite of what you intend
2
17:35
@mousetail I never said I'll actually do it lol. Although if @RydwolfPrograms lets me use his OpenAI subscription...
If you decide to do it, I'm interested to see how it goes
@Seggan They're far from useless, as long as you recognize their limitations
They're great for entertainment, for summarizing long and annoying articles, for getting definitions of random words/phrases (including slang), for suggesting ideas
ChatGPT is 10x more creative than I will ever be
17:57
and you can turn them into furries and have them tell R-rated jokes
> entertainment
Ninja'd :P
@Seggan Apparently it's very cheap, so you could always pay for it yourself
Due to circumstances I can't :(
@user no it's not, it's humans that are creative
Guess I'm not human :(
@Seggan I feel ya, I'm an adult and still don't have access to any money (I have a card in my name but my parents pay for it and use it to get the cashback rewards lmao)
@march ONE TIME I GOT RADON ON MY BUTT — rob ♦ yesterday
I'm concerned about why this person is checking the radioactivity of their dryer in the first place
@user I have money but it's all cash
Ah
18:11
My only gift card I spent on ksp2
I have a $20 note
i can't use the cash for online purchases for reasons
I'll get access to my card next semester since I'll actually need to buy stuff then, maybe I can make my own ChatGPT Discord bot
It's not actually a ChatGPT bot I'm proposing, but one that uses it for natural language processing
Anyone know how hurry and furry used to be pronounced before the merger?
@Seggan Isn't that a ChatGPT bot?
A bot hooked up to ChatGPT
18:16
In my mind that's more of a bot that acts as a discord interface to chatgpt
Ah ok you're drawing a distinction between something that directly pipes stuff from ChatGPT and something that does some processing
@user Oh there's audio recordings, should listen to those later
Yeah
@user the hurry is pronounced more like "uh"
That's how I pronounce furry too
Oh wait is it the length of the vowel?
Yeah
Hurry has a longer "uhh"?
Ah
18:21
@user no
shorter
oh
18:37
sometimes when I'm bored I like to read through the "Toxic body detected" flagged posts on Metasmoke
> Metasmoke is violating my freedom of speech.
we've also got the return of Berodrito Pembrunk
Why do Islam, EL&U, and Ask Ubuntu feature at the top of that pie chart?
I get SO but those three sites aren't even that popular
I guess those groups have very strong opinions?
EL&U?
Grammar Police
I get that Islam is religion and Ask Ubuntu is Linux
@Ginger Ah, it's all starting to come together
ELL is right after AU too
I'm surprised Math and Christianity aren't higher up
Math definitely feels like it should be fighting SO for the spot of most toxicity generated
Why delete that lol
18:42
because it's a reference to a webcomic, but I can't find the link
Especially since Math.SE has a lot of users (not as many as SO but still)
and I try not to make obscure references without context
Ah ok
it's the post titles that amuse me the most
The false positives are funnier than the true positives
18:44
> [$!X$] YOU GLORFINDEL <Japanese text>
Can't put a screenshot here because they're NSFW but I am tempted to click on all of them to figure out the context
> Why is Stack Overflow so fked?
good question
Oh it looks like a lot of the questions on Islam.SE talk about sex-related stuff, which gets them flagged as false positives

Q: A great use of the f-word

Graham BartonCan someone analyse this sentence for me please? I heard a trucker say this, in the workshop, when we told him the starter motor on his truck was knackered. To our amusement he said: "Fuck, the fucking fucker's fucked!" I reckon it's a pretty good effort, being a 5 word sentence with only one ...

there's also metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/flagging/logs/unflagged, which is full of people claiming to be "the admin of Stack Exchange"
lol what
18:46
yes really
@user The answer suggesting "Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh!" as a translation is great
What are those for?
Scammers?
Probably, threatening a ban is a common scam technique
yeah, they all have the same content too
> Please let me know what you think I should be able to Die the song I should be able to get it to enjoy the music haha I don't have any money on it and it will work out better for me if that's okay with you.
it's not really intelligible tho
The internet is such a weird place
18:48
agreed
good thing it's all out there and not in here
Yeah in here we're all normal well-adjusted human beings
yup
nothing weird here
(please don't check the transcript, anyone coming here)
They can't see that without coming in here
I stand by what I said, that tracker should've been detected
18:54
sadlfwefaishdpvc
exactly
ಠ_ಠ
:|
the body is an ad for a guy calling himself "Hacknetcyberprofessor"
> Hacknetcyberprofessor was the one that saved me from being forever poor.
okay why tf are there so many spammers named "Berodrito Pembrunk"
Have you considered that maybe it's just one person/botnet?
it's probably a botnet
there are too many posts for it to be one person
Googling the name only gives results on SE tho
blech, I just found one for a metaverse [spicy times] company
not gonna link that here
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

1 hour later…

1 hour later…
21:33
@Seggan Sure, lmk if you need a key and how much budget you'll need
Budget?
@user I'm guessing they just made a regrettable impulse purchase and are trying to justify their ownership of a $100 geiger counter
@Seggan Yeah, Snowy gets by on like $3/mo but I need to know what to set the cap at (in case the key gets leaked or something)
What does the budget determine
No just like, a budget of how much you expect it to cost. So I know what to set the spending limit to
Idr how much the tokens cost
Oh right
> $0.002 / 1K tokens
There's a ton of other models tho: openai.com/pricing
yo @RydwolfPrograms I'm pretty much done with Chat Bridge
any other features you want?
21:44
There's only one feature I want and that's chat bridging. If that works we're good :p
it does indeed work
as I said, I've added chat relaying, user join/leave events, announcements, and remote command execution
just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious
but apparently not, so I guess I'll go ahead and put this on the Hub GitHub
oh waiiit, I was gonna add getting a user list
lemme do that real quick
22:07
ok, added that and TPS
I think that oughta do it
22:22
@RydwolfPrograms Published!
now that that's done we can start the fun bit
don't look too hard at the code, you might regret it
you'll definitely hate me when you figure out what protocol I'm using
Magic Wormhole?
no, but that'd be funny
so are you gonna write your own CB client or use mine?
22:26
fair warning: I'm writing mine in Python
do with that what you will
okay, now I need to figure out how tf I run a modded server
nice, the official wiki has a guide
22:44
ok, what mods shall I have
hyper-neutrino would be a good start, caird's a good one too
Okay controversial opinion
I think the gun emoji should not have been turned into a water pistol
You don't protest things by censoring language itself
Especially when that creates sometimes dangerous ambiguity
23:07
@RydwolfPrograms cannot tell if /srs or /j
I suspect /j tho
Yes :p
mod mod: adds mods
hey bro we heard you liked mods
/srs what mods should I have on the server
I'm a vanilla kinda guy so idk
I'm asking now because anything that requires worldgen needs to be done before I start the server for the first time
obviously CB
Okay why do people who post cute cat videos have to edit the description when the cat dies
23:10
probably also want a- wtf
@RydwolfPrograms bruuuuh
Like bro I just wanna see floofy boi popping water balloons not hear about how he tragically died of kidney disease at 14
:/
as I was saying: probably also want a chunk-claiming mod
Create and ancillary stuff, IE, maybe a magic mod?
@Ginger ...is what someone would say if they were boring and hated chaos
WAIT do it factions style :p
You start with 10 chunk claims and every time someone kills you you lose a claim
do you seriously think that I'm going to let lyxal on a server without a chunk-claiming mod
because I will not
anyway: m a g i c
This is creative right
or survival
or spectator
23:14
creative
(although you can put yourself in survival if you want, I'm going to add a bot command for that)
@RydwolfPrograms Truly the xkcd 2437 of a server
how does screen work? I'd like to run the server in it
First you type screen
Then you hit enter
First you install screen
(If you're asking about exiting it, it's Ctrl+A then D)
@Ginger It's preinstalled on debian isn't it
If not it's just called screen in apt/dnf
23:17
nope lul
I installed it from apt
yeah but like how do I use it to run the server in a manner that lets me use the recovery console
It just drops you in a terminal
Do it the same way you'd run the server normally
Then ^A+D out and it'll run in the bg
aight
You can screen -ls later to find the ID and screen -r back in
and I assume I use screen -dmS server ./run.sh for the service command?
wait what
What's a service command again?
23:20
systemd service
Ohhh oh wait you're running screen in systemd?
yus
Wack but yeah you'd do that
that was my intention
what other options are there?
I'd use a more descriptive name than "server" tho lol
23:21
yeah I know that was just an example
@Ginger Well I just don't really see why you'd be using systemd here in the first place
You probably don't want autorestart right
I guess not?
why wouldn't I tho
idk
Well you wouldn't want to autorestart 'cause it'd mean something's broken
And it would mean stopping the server for updates would cause it to just immediately start up again
which would be silly
and goofy
and just generally wacky
you sound like lyxal lol
hmm, I need a cool name for the server
The with a trailing space
23:30
that is an awful idea
I'm sure you can do worse tho
Someday I'm going to open a restaurant where all of the menu items (mostly sandwiches) start with "the". One at the bottom will just be called "The". It'll cost 98¢ and the description will be blank. Anyone who orders it will be given two slices of bread.
It'll be good bread dw
lol
okay, what's a stupid TNB in-joke that nobody else will understand
(cc @lyxal)
@Ginger Every TNB in-joke
Bot butter
The Butter Factory
What's this for?
23:33
the Minecraft server I am about to set up
@Ginger fridge nuking
I considered that but I'm not sure it lends itself to a name
"Fridge Nukes"
"The Server of Limb Stealing"
FWIW the MOTD of my server was always just the default lol
I'm gonna go with "The Butter Factory" for now
23:52
@Ginger goofy sounding mfer
