9:48 AM
Coming back hopefully tomorrowish (my time)

10:17 AM
Added coords
When you forget to make timelapse generation backwards-compatible lol
Wait what nvm
It'd be different colours not shades of green and blue
tfw the nether is pink
I have a couple of ideas that'll make writing bots a lot harder
But I'll put them off until I add proper admin tools
Lol the mona lisa is pink

10:52 AM
Fixed now :P

11:23 AM
So... I tried locally saving the coordinates in session storage but that seems to reset on reload??
> A page session lasts as long as the tab or the browser is open, and survives over page reloads and restores.
Not what's happening afaictt

7 hours later…
6:04 PM
@allxy gorgeous

2 hours later…
7:44 PM
giving the serverless 192x192 a spin and i sure am glad you added zooming before upping the canvas size

Yeah lol
Should I speed up zoooming?

the current speed feels good
actually yeah no maybe speed up zooming
by 2x or 3x even (i'm assuming you can do that for pc without changing it on mobile?)

Yep

I guess i should post the final heatmap since no one else did
beautiful

That rectangle was my bots

7:50 PM
oh yeah was that one spammed pixel corrected algorithmically or did everything else just catch up to it

there's no way anything else caught up to it, or else many things would be a really light pink

Corrected algorithmically
Math.log
(iirc your suggestion)
Doubled scroll speed, and made it proportional to canvas size

8:10 PM
Major idea: Make whatever pixel you're hovering over show its coords somewhere

in a corner or something? yeah that would be nice
was on the verge of suggesting that myself

reddit did it on r/place anyway

@BowlingPizzaBall Done lol

r/place definitely needs it more than this does but yeah
wow that was fast

8:18 PM
Yeah, did it in -12 hours
Should iteration 3 start today?

8:46 PM
@UnrelatedString @BowlingPizzaBall ^

i'll put my decision to a coin flip
yes

9:22 PM
any final feature requests?

1 hour later…
10:24 PM
can't think of any
maybe just a pre-visualization of the new palette in case there are any clear tweaks to make
oh also just noticed that it appears that right clicking white places a pixel instead of selecting white
suuuuper marginal bug (white's not exactly the hardest color to eyeball) but may as well mention it

11:07 PM
so yeah my vote is to also start some time today

tfw canvas no work
"today"

almost like it's not up

This iteration is finished

i think he means today by new zealand time, where it is currently 11 am

ah

so any time that's technically today est would be very comfortable today there
oh yeah have you watched the final timelapse from iteration 2

11:25 PM
Canvas is starting as soon as I can get radvylf to
@UnrelatedString Hm, interesting...
status-norepro

Browser/os?

firefox on windows 10
also on canvas.rto.run and not whatever the surge.sh was you were using for serverless demos earlier
other colors select properly but white doesn't
i thought it might be specifically just regions of canvas that haven't been drawn on but i placed a black pixel then a white pixel over it and that still didn't select

@UnrelatedString That's a historic bug then, I think?

makes sense

11:29 PM
Unless it still occurs on canvas-1209.surge.sh
@RadvylfPrograms Would you mind starting canvas iteration 3?

cool palette

Do I need to pull anything?

Probably
There's some semi-new changes

Thanks, took y'all suggestions
@RadvylfPrograms wow you're agressive with this. Can I at least advertise this with one message in TNB?

11:32 PM
Sure
in The Nineteenth Byte, 21 hours ago, by Radvylf Programs
Followup announcement: I'm going to be really aggressive about moving off-topic stuff for the next week or so, probably more so than is necessary, but this can be a sort of...practice

Thankfully, we shouldn't have any issues with archaic clients
try/catch saves lives

TIL

Ugh, pulling from GH is a huge pain
I swear, there's gotta be a better way to do this

wELL
I HAVE JUST THE APPLICATION FOR YOU

I need to move things file by file, since I don't want to overwrite logs

11:36 PM
He's sshing to a server

@Ginger mE WHEN CAPS LOCK AND SHIFT MOMENT

oh
nvm then

@RadvylfPrograms Those shouldn't be overwritten since they're in the .gitignore?

Oh, hmm. How would I do that?
Like, is there a way to use git to update things? I've been manually unpacking the zip
So then I need to copy in the changed files

@RadvylfPrograms maybe try nfs?
I hear it's pretty cool

11:41 PM
@Ginger Network File System?

yup

That seems totally unrelated to git

it would let you move files more fasterer
(and with a GUI)

Uh...cp's plenty fast, it's more that going through the changelogs manually is the time consuming part

hmm

11:43 PM
And it's all on the same machine, nothing networky about it other than pulling from github itself

oh

If you can save the logfiles to a different directory, git clone the repo in there and return the logfiles it should set it up as a permanent git repo
And then you can just use git pull

Oh cool!

git is mysterious yet powerful

Git is like schrodingers cat, none of the commands do anything unless someone tells you what they are

11:45 PM
git is the Blender of version management software: indecipherable yet massively powerful with hundreds of great tutorials

it's up

@RadvylfPrograms "I don't know if the commands are broken or working until i hack the database"

but not really

Wait no it's nit

lol
it seems to still be operating fine in serverless mode so i guess make sure you turned that off

11:47 PM
403

...samne here now

Fixed that, selinux

not connecting

It was in local mode

oop
there we go
first pixel!

11:49 PM
nice

no white?????
dafok

you have to scroll for some reason

There's white

also you can right click existing white
...or not

You guys have to scroll?
Lame

11:51 PM
I do

yeah no that bug is still here lol

I still can't zoom in tho :(
I can zoom out but that doesn't really help too much

actually wait this also doesn't have the coordinate display that canvas-1209.surge.sh has

Yes it does
Wait, which site are you on?
I'm on canvas.rto.run

and i think i've refreshed it a few times since the iteration started too
okay i refreshed it again and there it is

11:58 PM
Weird

are you guys doing some local testing or smthn
