Q: Is there any truth to Russia's claim at the United Nations that there have been food embargos agianst Dobass by Ukraine?

Schwarz Kugelblitz For eight years, the people of the Donbas region have been subject to economic, transport and food embargos, the elderly and children were forced to hide from shelling and tens of thousands of refugees have fled into the Russian Federation. From the Russian Delegate's statement at the United Na...

Q: Why does the west not run air incursions into/around Russian airspace?

User65535It is frequently reported the Russian planes incur upon western airspace, and this presents challenges and demands on western air forces. Yesterday we had a report of Russian bombers “armed with nuclear warheads” reportedly entered Swedish airspace before being intercepted by fighter jets, and l...

When I tried to search a bit, I only see this published in things such as The Sun, Daily Mail and similar. (But it would not be surprising if they are the first to report anything which is sufficiently clickbaity.)
The article from The Sun says that this is based on some articles from Swedish press:
> TV4, Expressen and Aftonbladet all report the formation was two Sukhoi Su-24 bombers and two Sukhoi Su-27 fighters.

@MartinSleziak Interesting - anecdotally from random chats I've had with people in the UK, a surprising number of people were blaming NATO for making a mountain out of a molehill and confidently predicting that Russia would deescalate after extracting some concessions... right up until Russia invaded, at which point they became rather quiet.

> He underestimated the strength of the coalition his actions would galvanise. He under-played the economic consequences of the sanctions regime. He over-estimated the abilities of his military to secure a rapid victory. We’ve seen Russian soldiers – short of weapons and morale - refusing to carry out orders, sabotaging their own equipment and even accidentally shooting down their own aircraft.
@CDJB Oh that's also what I thought. I mean, from Russia's point of view I still don't think it made sense to invade. What have they gained? At most I would have expected them to get more involved in those breakaway regions. The whole of Ukraine is about the size of Afghanistan. Not so long ago a more advanced military power failed to affect regime change there against a less competent adversary...
But then, I guess we're in different bubbles. As the NYT reported yesterday:
> President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia has been misinformed by his advisers about the Russian military’s struggles in Ukraine, according to declassified U.S. intelligence.
> The intelligence, according to multiple U.S. officials, shows what appears to be growing tension between Mr. Putin and the Ministry of Defense, including with the Russian defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, who was once among the most trusted members of the Kremlin’s inner circle.
If true, this is very dangerous. A commander in chief who is not fully briefed on his troops' progress in a war. :/

@JJJ I mean it definitely makes sense given Russia's previous intimidation efforts, but of course, past performance is no guarantee for future returns...

Well, we have this saying here: 'barking dogs don't bite'. So we've seen a lot of barking in the past, but I'm not sure if we've seen a lot of biting. Russia now had to resort to using PMCs, the Wagner group, as I understand because at least there's some more discipline there. The biggest failure I think, though is that they haven't even been able to occupy Ukraine. That's the easy part and that failed.
The hard part would have been to sustain the occupation and to affect a change of power. I wonder if we ever even get to that, hopefully not.
That doesn't mean it looks good for Ukraine though. They have held off much of the Russian offensive for now, but they must be short on supply too now. Same as the Russians, but they have a safe place to retreat to, they can resupply and recruit more soldiers. The Ukrainians rely on supplies from the West basically., but will it be enough?

Q: How many people will die in Africa and other third world countries as an indirect result of the Russian invasion to Ukraine?

user31264Russia and Ukraine are two major exporters of wheat. Russian is the largest wheat exporter in the world, while Ukraine is the fifth-largest wheat exporter (see List of countries by wheat exports ). Together, they account for about a third of the world's wheat exports. Russia is also the larges...

Q: Why is the war in Ukraine considered a Russian fiasco?

JaoodThe narrative in the western world is that the war in Ukraine has been a fiasco for Russia; that they aren't doing as well as they should be, that their weaknesses have been exposed, that their military is much weaker than USA's than what it was expected to be, etc. And yet, the war has only been...

Q: Where can I find videos of russian tv shows covering the russian invasion of Ukraine?

TortarI was watching a tv show in my country on the matter and they showed some footages of the russian tv shows (If I remember well one of them is called 60 minutes). The focus was on the massive propaganda people in russia have to stand everyday. I'm curious to watch some of these shows and see what ...

Q: What are the alternatives for a resolution given in russian media to end the Ukraine's invasion?

TortarAfter writing my first question I realized that I can even ask for a good summary of the russian positions in the media on the ways the invasion of Ukraine can end. What alternatives are indicated to arrive at a resolution?
