@KorvinStarmast @NautArch I've got preliminary confirmations from both of my compatriots, they expressed a mild preference for roll20 as their choice of platform
I personally have very limited experience, do you have thoughts?
@KorvinStarmast We're playing over text, I just can't juggle my brain very well with trying to follow the action, speaking a foreign language (at least minding the tone a high-fantasy adventure needs) and thinking about the rules
Playing over text'll give me the crucial advantage of getting to formulate myself clearly and take my time understanding what everyone is saying (plus it might be good for the tone)
@kviiri roll 20 text is fine, good. Like it. As to back story and the group I could not decide on talent, tentatively {from my notes} Talent: Balladeer (Or Story Teller-Discuss with group) Air of the Elf Queen(1) I need to find a way if others have advice or preference. I can do either.
@kviiri Ah, you had mentioned that before, and it prevents my bad habit of talking too fast from being a frustration. :-)
A co-worker in my previous workplace commented that I use "fancy words" which admittedly is true
After years of hanging almost exclusively in sciencey circles and reading lots of papers, plus some softer stuff like Wikipedia (:D) one gets some quirks in their vocabulary
@kviiri I took advanced vocabulary courses in high school to help with college entrance exams. I then went and did two different masters degrees in different subjects. Read on dozens of topics. Looks words up if I don't know their meaning. So over time, I have a great vocab but I need to tune it to my group.
Over time, I think I do better with simple words, and I believe Winston Churchill got it right. "Never use a word with more than two syllables unless you absolutely need it" (In re public speaking)
@kviiri Oh, yes, we strive to be clear and we often fail that roll on the DC 14 clarity check ...
I still have that problem with the technical writing that I do these days (aircraft maintenance)
