9:40 AM
The votes are following the general trend so far
2016 is the only odd year out really. So we may get some more votes but probably just a trickle now

10:26 AM
@TheLethalCarrot What does that graph show?

Cumulative votes for this election

Been stuck on 555 for a while now.
If it finishes at 555 votes, the winner should put another bounty on that famous ID question.

If you look at 2013 and 2015 the graph shape is the same, so presumably you could work out the total vote projection from that data
2016 is the only one that's an odd one out in comparison

@TheLethalCarrot ohh really weird

@Randal'Thor add a bounty amount of 555
5
@AncientSwordRage Because it had the Primary so most of the voting was either side of the weekend IIRC

10:32 AM
@TheLethalCarrot ahh ok

2 hours later…
12:30 PM
that will be sad if we don't crack the total number of votes from last election
would indicate lots of users have gone away

@Skooba Or that lots of users came last time who wouldn't normally vote.

@Randal'Thor Up to 556 according to the badge tracker :/

For example, lots of people roped in to vote against that one controversial guy.
@TheLethalCarrot I see 557.
Two new people got the badge today.

Yours will likely be less cached than that tracker
@Randal'Thor Ugh yeah, what was that guy's name?

that election was still on a downward trend tough, there should have been even more, esp. if it was controversial
granted there aren't many data points to pull from

1:29 PM
@TheLethalCarrot Nominees were Randal'Thor, SSumner aka The Fallen, Null, Mithical, Alexwlchan, Jason Baker, Himarm, Wanting Answers, Jack B Nimble, and KutuluMike. And that's only 10, while the election page claims 11 candidates.

Q: Historical election records are incomplete

chirluTwo users who were candidates in the first moderator election have since left the site and deleted their accounts. This seems to have caused some issues with the page documenting that election: The users who no longer are members are completely missing from the page. (This is true for the nomin...

@SQB FWIW if you didn't get the reference I knew what Rand was talking about

SQB
@TheLethalCarrot I thought you did, but I didn't, so now I'm curious.
Although now I see that CreationEdge also ran, so they must've deleted their account since (which makes me sad, and I hadn't noticed before).

Yeah CE has left SE completely at this point I believe

that's a shame :-(

2:00 PM
@SQB Yeah. He later became a mod on Arts & Crafts, where he was the highest-rep user, but he quit SE altogether in 2020 :-(

youd think the election would end at June 21 20:00 ya know to keep the pattern.... 7 >>14>>22 just throws me off

He contributed a lot to SFF meta back in the day.

He always had cool avatar updates too
his contributions will be missed.

2 hours later…
4:21 PM
I think it's safe to say that we're in the endgame now. Good luck to all the other candidates :)

4:33 PM
@TheLethalCarrot not sure what text to put here: imgflip.com/memegenerator/146632315/Dr-Stranges-Futures
"In how many of those futures do we get a bad moderator?" "In how many of those futures do we get a good moderator?".... "In how many of those futures do we get a drama free election?"

5:27 PM
I dunno about drama free but, if I'm not speaking too soon this election has appeared to almost avoid drama, and certainly none major.

It has side stepped a lot of what could have happened
so far anyway (to be safe :P)

3 hours later…
8:19 PM
@AncientSwordRage To me that looks like two Sherlock Holmeses talking to each other.
A little under 24 hours to go, and we're still 23 votes short of last election.

@TheLethalCarrot record skip [Europe: The Final Countdown]
@Randal'Thor which candidate benefits the most from that I wonder lol

Would any candidate particularly benefit from less votes overall?

It just depends on who the voters are.
If they are newer to the site it may benefit Carrot because he has is probably the most active in recent times. While Jack may benefit from older voters as he has more name recognition over the years/from the blog.
User931 might benefit because a small number can swing it in their favor.
Ibid and I might benefit if they are mostly Harry Potter tag people lol

9:18 PM
@Randal'Thor could be.... Could be....

9:32 PM
@Adamant Yes. Harry Potter questions ran out; there was no new Star Wars film in 2020 and still no date for the next, presumably because of the pandemic, which will delay other Holywood film and series production too.
@AncientSwordRage It's too late for that last one, sorry about that.

1 hour later…
10:38 PM
@Skooba A lot of the "extra" voters in 2016 might have been people with diamonds on other sites who wouldn't normally have voted here.
Dunno who'd benefit if those aren't voting this time.

11:20 PM
@Randal'Thor Over half of the nominees have already given that answer 500 point bounties.
Everyone except Skooba, Carrot, and Jack (who gave it 50).

11:35 PM
I occasionally mention that we have to be careful, or else Stack Overflow will put just one bounty to stackoverflow.com/a/21468591/2200827 and get ahead of us, and if they want to be competitive, they can keep up back to back 500 XP bounties longer than we can.
