@Scott I'm soon to hit 20k and I'm thinking the same thing. 😂
@Scott, that hexagon comment of yours might come across as a tad bitter? 🤔
I was thinking the same thing but ...

@Scott I recall you mentioned something about exporting PMS swatches... I'm looking for a way to do that, I assume it was doable pre-CS6?

@curious export? I just copied the files from applications/illustrator xx/presets/en-us/swatches/color books and placed the copy in the same place for any other version of AI. There's no need to actually "export" anything.
and I can see how reading that hexagon comment could be taken as a bit harsh. Wasn't my intention at the time (2am). And Vincent was right.. I forget not everyone is a native English speaker.. I forget at times.
I imagine with the new Pantone subscription NEW swatch files will have some sort of lock on them... I'm guessing, but I can't imagine how else they'd prevent just copying the color books to a new version. Of course, if you ONLY have the new version you out of luck.

@Scott Duh, I was confused with exporting swatches. I was able to get to them, thanks!

FYI, you don't have to copy things. If you just make an alias or symbolic link of a swatch folder, you can place that in any new version of AI as well. AI will navigate the alias/symlink the same as if it were a folder (I don't know what aliases are called on a 'Doze system :) )
I use aliases for all my "user libraries" so they can be kept on a separate volume/drive and don't add their file sizes to my OS volume backup.

@Scott I'm thinking about it as a "backup" that might come in handy for me and others. I give branding class this semester and unsure when they're going to pull the plug on PMS libraries so we haven't changed the assignment. But I would like to have the option of importing the books, at least if only to show what it's supposed to look like
We can't really modify anything permanent in the computers but I think we can import books
well, or copy them to the relevant folder...maybe
