Had my first TPK last session, but I saved them with some plot armor. But then a PC died for realzies in the next encounter :O
Any advice on how to bring in the next character they roll? As in should they have the same amount of experience as every other character? I feel like there should be some penalty for dying, but also being level(s) behind everyone else seems kinda not fun.
cc @Ryan if he's lurking about
My initial thinking was for his new character to be the same level (3) as everyone else but to start with no extra XP, so 900 XP. But I think everyone else is at about 2,000 now, so that penalty seems a little harsh. It's a short campaign, I imagine only 3 or 4 more sessions
hmm, I like that idea of a level behind just for one session. I think I can reasonably calculate how much XP everyone will get next session so that everyone will level up during the session but he will have to wait until next
they definitely deserved the TPK, they tripped an alarm at the Goblin HQ and decided to immediately blow signal whistles and make as much noise as possible. But that was my one freebie plot armor save, PCs are gonna die from here on out :P
How are you @Vincent? What are you playing these days?
I think I've finally got a good feel for things as far as what tools and resources I want to use for DMing, looking forward to next session as I think I'll be the most prepared for it
It's overwhelming knowing how to run combat for so many different monsters, those writeups on good strategies for each is fantastic. Definitely doing to purchase a copy of their book when it's released
Hey all :) I'll make a meta post eventually but I wanted to get this topic started
With all the hard work that is being put answering tutorial questions, I find it disheartening that a lot of the questions are often titled in a super non-descriptive way
