@Wes are the swatches printed on fabric? What printing process are you using?
@Wolff I meant the duotone function (but can be used to make tri/quad robes)
Setting curves isn't so bad with two colors but I've always wondered if there are specific issues to keep an eye out for
Could turn that into a question if I didn't already ask it
I did a project some time ago, a poster that folded as a document holder. It was black + metallic PMS
I recall I ended up fiddling with the channels in the end
Tried knocking out the metallic PMS from the shadows of the photo to make them look deeper
Ah I asked for metallic duotones in the past but not tri/quadtones

@Emilie I'm not sure I have any general rules. I've used the method a few times, but for different things. And I guess it can be used in many different ways.
You can check out this answer for my method for one specific case.
@Emilie It's not bad to fiddle is it? I mean duo/tritone only use curves to manipulate the color. Sometimes you could need further filtering.
As general rules-of-thumb I could mention:
- Watch total ink.
- When mixing light color with darker color you might need to make sure the dark color doesn't pollute the lighter color in the lights.
- For a "natural" looking effect, make sure the inks mix "smoothly" into each other. Sudden knock out of a color can result in banding.

@Emilie no idea, they print a layer of white gummy thing, and then they add color on top

the handles, knots, nodes (whatever they are called) editing is what i hate the most about illustrator
is there a way to simplify a path automatically, that is, put nodes at even distance from each other and adjust the bezier handles automatically?

@Wes When printing t-shirts, white is a color ink. About Illustrator nodes, there are several ways, Pencil Tool, Pen Tool, Simplifying points... All depends of the kind of job and the working process
