man, of all sites to pick to spam with tactics like this... SE seems like one of the worst options
why devote the time to set this up when the community is made up of a self-policing user base with people that love to hunt down and eradicate stuff like this :P
@JackJohansson is this the same computer you mentioned that you had issues with using PHPStorm??
@JohnB page ranking when sites are indexed would be my guess. I think Google indexes the member lists, if so many have that name from multiple sites it will rise to the top of a search. Maybe a username validation that detects those keywords and rejects the username is in order.
oh I missed it @JohnB you're not doing grocery bags anymore? Same company in a different role or left for a new company? I remember you said the owner was basically retired and leaving you to do everything
@Vincent After looking through recent users with Autobiographer, After opening a bunch of spam I noticed one name that came up a few times... so I checked, and sure enough. those nasty little hoos
@WELZ It’s a few clicks. The problem is that there are too many of them. This is something that SE has to tackle otherwise. Still, apart from certain sites (badge list, new users), those accounts do not do much harm as of now.
