@quid: just to add to what you said, the site is not only for those who are studying maths (currently) but also for those who have have studied it (in past).

Let me mention a recent question: math.stackexchange.com/questions/4119983. Two highly rated users felt the need to give full answers. But what's wrong with providing only a hint: "show that P is a projection" and let the OP to ask for more details if they feel the need? An answerer to the other question told me that he has no time to visit M.SE many times a day in order to start a dialogue with the OP, and thus he prefers to post full answers. (This is indeed a great excuse!)
By the other question I mean this: math.stackexchange.com/questions/4112451
I can't refrain to ask myself if when someone posts such an answer really think that he/she was helpful? In my country there are still seminars when we solve problems with the students. What if I am doing this in the following way: I enter the classroom and write some exercises and their full solutions on the blackboard? Is this helpful? I don't think so!
"where we solve problems"
To conclude: a full answer, especially to basic questions, corroborated with the absence of a dialogue doesn't worth much.
This is my opinion and I think I am on the right side.

@user26857 The response to that, is to use the search box and find well written questions where no conversation is required! என்ன வாணா சொல்லுவாங்க. I still don't believe we should polarize the conversation with a right side, but I believe that your thoughts are in sync with the spirit of the post, and you speak very honestly. Thanks for participating in that thread with me!

I don't like this enforcement. I saw a lot of very old posts on the site which are PSQ (Problem Statement Questions) but they have elegant answers too which are very useful for me.
Surely we will see some interesting questions with no efforts which will be closed and maybe will be deleted rather than seeing elegant answers below it :(

@Soheil Old threads are not the concern here. Besides, if an old thread has excellent answers that make the content very valuable, people are not inclined to vote to delete it. What needs to go, first of all, are routine PSQs that have no lasting value.

@Soheil Great point, after all people must have wondered why such posts did well in that time. That's because for a long time MSE was entertaining semi-homework questions, but the focus shifted when it was found that the quality of the site was decreasing and the site was becoming a homework forum. To prevent that, and in general prevent dishonest practice, the quality checks are in place to gauge "in principle" if a question suits the site or not.
@Soheil If you happen to see a question , which is interesting and has no efforts, yes it will be closed and it causes plenty of heartache. But we have ways around that : you can note down the question , fit in context if possible and post it yourself, for example. But remember this : for every gem that slips by because it had no effort, we have a treasure's worth of questions with effort and context which stay on site, gather attention, get up voted and turn into model questions.
@Soheil The old threads are then kept only because they were of value. Old threads are still getting voted out and deleted because of this policy. I want to reassure you that we will first and foremost try to make sure we can do our best to keep the question and only delete if there's no response (or rude response etc.) to our requests. Also wish you a very happy month of Ramadan, I see there are a few days left!

8:09 PM
@TeresaLisbon Yes that's logical. Thank you for the response!
I wish you great days! And yes it's about 10 days left ;)

@Soheil Yes, I believe it's till May 11 or so. Enjoy yourself!

Thanks, have a good day!

@Soheil Oh sure, you too! Don't worry, it's very very easy to fall in line with the policy, and if we can do it and be role models for others, in no time the site will be sparking. Thanks once again for your very valid concern.
