I mean maybe even derivative, maybe first time you learn ti you are excited and think it is biggest thing in the world but after a while you get bored and then search for next thing
I am assuming you're in HS so around 16-17 age bracket. I noticed that in my transition from 16-20 (20 I am now), my ideas changed quite a bit. I'd keep finding ideas that I think were the best things ever then it'd lose it's potency and I'd search for new ones. Sadghuru and his teachings came pretty early on to me

I'm UG

I am surprised, are you in an engineering course?

Took science but then UG in management but now preparing for CAT exam

4:41 AM
General science or like a specific BSC?

Science in highschool and prepared for Jee

Oh my god that exam is cancer
Wait
So are you older than me? XD

Lol, I guess that true for majority of the aspirants

3% people get into college which have 50% funding

By a couple of years

4:42 AM
Well that's another plot twist
I actually thought you were younger than me
altho, I didn't enroll in any course post JEE, so I am degreless still

Lol, I felt the same, from the video, you sounded like someone in 30-40s. XD

Wait which one? the syntax one?

This I think is the second time or third time someone has pointed
da heck is going on O_o

Hahahaha

4:44 AM
Wait so let me get this straight the CAT exam is the thing for Quant?

What?

The thing with economists but applied
I am not sure, I heard there is some high paying job about economics you get out of CAT

Well, higher studies generally translate into that

I think I had a memory loss moment. What job in the end do you get of Cat specifically?

It's a maagement course, so managerial roles at the end. Maybe in Finance, HR, etc etc. Some also take enrepreneurship, some even choose altogether different line like becoming author (Chetan Bhagat)

4:48 AM
Oh
Becoming the Boss

So, I don't know, I too feel excited about any maths topics when I pick it until it becomes too hard which I often think is because in India, unlike other countries, isn't much preferred choice so maybe lack of good teachers for guidance or the lifestyles too busy
that's just a hunch

Mmm my life has been relatively busy due to like the need of Learning German but I found a way to study Mathematics without try harding it too much
What I do is , 1. Buy a physical book
2. Every once in a while when I am bored of life, I go to a coffee shop or something and sit there reading that book.

But before reading , I try to think about the basic concepts a lot like the essential definitions because if one understands that then one can enter the book from any page
Even if a book has many chapters it is usually that all of them can be entered mainly using the ideas from first or zeroth chapte
On thing is like I write on side of the page what things I don't understand so I can check back and see if I can figure it out next time. If I don't understand something for too long or think it's complicated I graduate that doubt into an MSE Q
One difficult part for me with this approach was that becoming comfortable with the fact that there will be things I won't understand a lot in a book I read and still continuing if that makes sense
Coffee shop could be replaced by any chill place though, usually states have libraries but I live rn in a desert so
btw what state you from?

Bro! just noticed that Asak Karagila has removed one of my questions too from HNQ list after an hour
*Asaf
This question. Seriously, what's wrong with this question?!
I really think that User2XXX, Theobenedit and your comments are too relevant
Can't we do something about it?
Should I post a meta post too?
Though the question is now almost 10 days old.

@InanimateBeing I'd say just watch and wait, at the moment the issue was brought up and discussed
(by me)

I saw and I don't think it's going anywhere
It seems to have closed right there itself
I think several meta posts might help
What do you say?
I know you have it in your profile too

I am supposing that next time onward moderator Asaf Karagila will think twice before posting. Protesting on Meta by posting in masse won't alleviate the situation in my opinion. Perhaps in real life it would be if people took out placards and went outside a building it would, but I don't think so it is that effective here
Furthermore, it not a unilateral wish. There are other users in the community who are in favour of Asaf's previous actions

I don't know bro, I feel strongly motivated to do so
I see who are in favour of Asaf. Jyrki, isn't it?

Jonathan Z, Njj

And quid too

Quid?
I did not see any comments by them

Did Quid comment on the post?

Theo benedit post
You checked that post?

Oh I roughly read it and I realized that I am not the first guy to think this
This conversation is happening the second time is what I undesrtood

7:29 AM
Ya, and damn theo is great. His arguments, after reading them, are just so clear in delivering the intent
And the sad part is that moderators are elected for a lifetime

I mean it's already established that considerable number of posts have been put, now the special thing about your case is that your own post was effected by it. I think the people who have taken a stance have already taken a stance. It is only if you can convert the opposing opinion or moderator himself if the action were incorrect and bring them to the other side
Well I mean, moderator is a lot of work. The site is free. They are not getting paid etc. The only possible benefit for them is like of spiritual sort.
There is no like Good guy vs Bad guy type story here. It's quite complicated. It can only be attempted to convince holder of opposing opinion that our opinion is correct and try bring them to it.

At the moment, I see a lot of reasonable points for the side of mods not actively clearing HNQ, but the points are not strong enough to 'convert' the opposing side
If you really care about this issue, I think the first thing you should do is probably try to think about it and see if you can find shorter and stronger arguments with supporting evidence on why MODS removing HNQ questions actively is bad considering all the counterarguements given in my post

Sorry, network issue

Of course, this task is a bit difficult. It's not like there is a clear cut solutions as this a problem beyond "mathematics" in some sense.

I know it's not good vs bad and that mods aren't paid. but this doesn't feel right
I'm not that good at putting arguments honestly
All I can ask is that why my post was removed from HNQ

It is required if you want to convince others of your ideas
Also, there was a similar type issue which I asked in the comments on why my question on Lebesg integration was removed from HNQ

7:38 AM
That much I can and I'm most likely going to because to convince one needs to show to others that even Okay posts are being remove

and that too got no reply , so I am not sure how well your question would be taken
That's a good point, showing that normal posts are getting removed but it was mentioned already by Sarvesh as well

Let's see... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hey, all I'm going to say is take it slow
Don't rush and do things

Slow?

8:02 AM
@Beautifullyirrational I decided to ask my question on Chem.SE
-2
Q: How does adding oxalic acid to water change the volume of the solution?

Prithu BiswasDoes $\pu{87.4 mL}$ of $\ce{H2O}$ and $\pu{12.6 g}$ of $\ce{HOOC-COOH.2H2O}$ create $\pu{100 mL}$ of a solution? So in our practical class our teacher wanted to make $\pu{100 mL}$ $\pu{1 M}$ aqueous solution of $\ce{HOOC-COOH.2H2O}$ [Oxalic Acid Dihydrate]. So first he measured $\pu{12.6g}$ $\pu{...

@Beautifullyirrational Please note that posting "en masse" on meta would be considered disruptive. If you are considering such a disruption as a form of protest, fair enough---but please note that there are consequences to disruptive behaviour.

12:47 PM
@XanderHenderson What makes you think that I am for "posting in masse"...? I'd say check the post here

3 hours later…
3:20 PM
@Beautifullyirrational What makes you believe that I believe that you are advocating posting en masse? (By the way, the phrase is either "en masse" or "in mass", not "in masse"; "in masse" appears to be a strange mixture of French and English.) I also find it strange that when I pinged you, I was replying to precisely the comment which you suggest that I need to "check out". Clearly, I had already read that comment.

My mistake on the last point. I checked the original comment that you replied too only after writing my reply. It was a miscommunication issue. I understood the literal meaning of your first message but I wasn't sure what you're intent in writing it was
Now, I understand that it was just to reaffirm that what I said is actually is the best move
