I don't know if maybe smokey is reducing the use of this room or if maybe this is just the normal amount of use it gets

yeah I think it just doesn't get used much
I just remember a time when it was more,... active

@trogdor oh, don't worry, it is not the room
The whole network is less active
@trogdor see this question for example.... Link

tis fair enough
but main chat still gets conversations
this one has always been less active than main chat at least

wait, wrong link my bad
makes more sense now?

10:41 AM
no
that one I can't see
but I still think I understand what you meant

@trogdor that was the point.
It has been deleted. It contained actual data that showed a decrease in posts on SO - both questions and answers - in the last few years
While probably the post was a little "ranty" it was still somehow understandable.
still, degenerated in some sort of "I'm right you are wrong" fight and was closed.

on an unrelated notice, every time someone talks about "agency in combat" in the other room, that old VGCat comic about the "instant death radius" comes to mind.

admittedly I therefore haven't seen much of the actual content but it seemed to be at least less grotesquely bigoted than FATAL

@Carcer didn't you room regulars made a special agreement that that thing didn't really exist?

@Carcer myfarog, fatal, and deadearth probably together vie for the top three spots of most grotesquely bigoted games.

@doppelgreener yeah, I'd never heard of deadEarth before now but FATAL and Myfarog I knew about

@Derpy i don't think so

possibly there is unspoken social convention I'm violating for people who don't want to be reminded that FATAL exists

1:22 PM
@Carcer You may be interested in RPGnetWiki's Worst RPGs ever list.

@doppelgreener seemed to remember someone once saying that you (the room) try to avoid remembering that it existed. Must be just my memory playing tricks on me.

@Derpy Well, we definitely try to avoid remembering it exists, but there's no agreement it doesn't (or to not mention it).

> Thirdly, there's more than a bit of Wish Fulfillment here. Gamers, and by extension game designers, tend to be nerds by definition. The notion that a wizard (generally something of a brainy bookworm) may start out weaker than the Dumb Muscle, but surpass them entirely in the endgame, proving that knowledge is power that can modify the environment itself, thus making large muscles redundant in comparison? This account holds a lot of inherent appeal to them.
^ thank you a lot, anonymous TV Tropes editor.
