hm
work canteen had only coke zero (eww) stevia (double eew) and light
Light dosen't taste that chemically but is much to sweet.
01:07
ooooooooh
falkon.org this is a fork of qupzilla, my go-to browser on crappy systems
I need to try it on my chinese tablet when I have time
cc @JourneymanGeek #sockabuse

...welp. It's Astaroth's turn to get Windows 10 version 1903.
hm, dosen't seem much lighter ramwise
@rahuldottech apparently its a thing.
I'm worried about my friends who are going to the US for college. Why if they like... Idk, break a bone or something?
better not to
01:46
Welp
> American guy is surprised when he gets a realistic hospital bill in forgein country
Reads like a goddamned Onion article headline
Our healthcare system is utterly broken.
honestly, that's probably better than most. No referrals?
and honestly, that's cheap because 1) Its efficient 2) no BS
I actually knew this going in, but... support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4500988/…
> An external USB device, SD memory card, or UFS card that is attached to the computer can cause an inappropriate drive reassignment on Windows 10-based computers during the installation of the Windows 10, version 1903 update.
Wat. Drive letter assignment may change unexpectedly?
@bwDraco actually - healthcare is one of those things with capitalism, for individual companies, fails - when you consider the broader economy
Healthy folks are productive folks, and help the economy as a whole
but that's at odds with "We need to extract maximum profit"
02:13
So how long will the Demon take to update this time around?
6-8 weeks?
7m20s to the lock screen...
8m52s to the desktop.
02:33
If any of you have taken the 1903 update, how long did it take?
honestly? Whenever I do a feature update, I do it from a USB, turn off my monitors and just let it run
Astaroth is the last system in this house to get this update.
Now let's clean up.

> Mosquitoes have a preference for blood type and prefer people with Type O blood over those with Type B (but prefer Type B over Type A).
Bob
Bob
@rahuldottech erm. pretty sure that was a myth
@Bob It's from HTG's "Did you know?"
C'mon
Microsoft is talking about "converting" the menu key?
It's literally one of the most useful keys on the keyboard!
I can't live without it

ahem
@Bob Eh, DDG isn't perfect, but it's not too bad
That same link is the fourth result on Google for me

I'm not talking about the choice in search engines.
I'm talking about the sketchy claim.
@Bob Plenty of other sites back it up curiosity.com/topics/…
04:41
Skeptics question?
@JourneymanGeek idk if it'll be on-topic

Guess who got a $750 collection notice from a collection agency for outstanding library books today?!
Bob
Bob
07:43
o_O
07:58
Yea... She's busy searching the house for all the books she got out... Cause if she returns them all she only needs to pay $210.
wtf...
thats insane
how long has she had the books for?
Long enough I guess...
i think in the UK you'd have to have the books out for 1000 years to rack up a fine that large
08:52
No, that's not the late fee. That's the "We assume you have lost or stolen these books, so we are charging you for replacement copies and since you ignored that replacement charge, we've sent the debt to a collection agency to try and recover it for us" fee.
Bob
Bob
$750 is like ... 50 books minimum?!
What, has she had them for a decade? With like 50% p.a. interest?
09:19
i thought you antipodeans were chilled out about these sorts of things
my local library burnt down in the mid 90s, they lost all the records for who had books out and relied on people's honesty to return them
09:49
@Bob you've not brought many books revcently?
I mean sure, if you're buying novels.
Anything technical, you're looking at easily $150 per book
And then there's the charges from the agency for doing the work.
@Burgi we don't need to burn the books we just remove em
Oh, those are kid's books.
They're like.... $30 for the most expensive one.

@djsmiley2k I was assuming novels
do people borrow technical books from a library these days?
they're usually hilariously outdated

11:09
true true

4 hours later…
15:06
@Bob I'm actually planning on getting a library subscription just this week
I don't like reading on the phone or laptop, I don't have a tablet, and purchasing ebooks or pirating them is too much of a hassle anyway
Also, novels don't really get "outdated", and I don't mind if I"m reading older books anyway

1 hour later…
16:10
@MichaelFrank Wat.
16:35
Oh wait you were talking about technical books from the library, I didn't see the entire context
My bad

Russia: sober driver \ drunken driver
19:13
@rahuldottech Originally I was talking about books for kids. Bob and Smiley figured I must have been talking about technical books because of the high $$$ value of the collection notice my wife received.
19:44
KIDS BOOOKS?!
Gold leaf pages, clearly
And a Fabergé egg happy meal toy from the library's canteen
Clearly kidskin leather bindings as well ;)

A: Nginx - allow access to directory

DavSevO.k first I had to find the configuration file. I found it in the /etc/nginx/conf.d directory. Than I cane across this tutorial: http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_autoindex_module.html I added this block inside the server block: location /srita/ { index index.html; autoindex on; }

"tutorial"

@MichaelFrank everything you need to.know about running a server you can do blindly following a tutorial
