Why is DHL cheaper than singpost?
or registered 0_0
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek I don't know!
Why is singpost so expensive?!
I just wanted a heat gun :(
It's $14. The shipping costs more.
> Australia Direct Channel AU37.07
> You can add 14013gr more to your parcel and pay $0.00 extra!
Why does the singpost option even exist?!
$50 for 2kg limit or $37 for 15kg limit seems like a no-brainer...
00:43
donno?
Bob
Bob
And DHL is still the cheapest
...and is a 30kg limit O_O
Sooooo... DHL can ship this, probably within a week, for $26. Up to 30kg. Meanwhile, SingPost AirParcel is $50 for up to 2kg, and 7-21 days shipping. 21. days.
Something is veeeeery fishy here.
Urk.
Might as well go DHL and chuck in an electric screwdriver...
When the shipping costs 2x more than the item... :S
> Infrared thermometer
Hmm...
Bleh
Looks like my experience with IoT is going to involve a lot of hard resets and factory restores.
Well I suppose I needed a new career path
01:51
jesus how much misleading shit is there on google
you click a link that says it has the full video then asks you for make an account and then doesnt even have the fucking movie
and yes ive already saw it in the cinama TODAY before you bitch about piracy
Heh a fool and his clicks are soon parted?
I dont understand
its not that im a bad googler
02:39
@RecycleBin it's that even with google tossing out SEO links and fraud left and right mosre than 1/2 the stuff is still fraud and deception. When you find the 2% gold mines (past the land mines) that is where storing the prcious favorite comes into play . . . 6months later, they sell out and you go looking again.
I agree that movies shoudnt be pirated but they will be so thought i'd look as I wanted to watch it again
I guess it hasnt from what ive seen so thats good, however thares still a load of crap pretending to have what you googled for when they dont
no but they do have cool surveys you can take (99%fraud) and cool pop links you can follow (99% fraud) and even when you land at a good place, you might want to have scripts turned completly off, and them in the restricted zone.
@RecycleBin LOL
Spyware blasters passive restrictions and kill bits solves some of that. but last data base version is getting huge registry stuff.
Just seeing your name and picture :P
02:46
yup, Im the real recycle bin
03:45
@OliverSalzburg Hi, how did you setup Auth for your Cordava applications ?
I am thinking of an APIish auth mechanism using OAuth2
Like facebook's webapp login
@Bob @DavidPostill One day I am going to write something that hooks into the js and prevents deletes :P
But then that would be frowned upon and I am pretty lazy :D
04:24
"Mexican authorities are investigating local security officials who put at least 105 unidentified victims of violent crime in a mass grave in central Mexico, officials said on Friday." uk.reuters.com/article/2015/11/07/… ok not my next vacation choice
I'm not sure if I belie that article
04:45
Am I allowed to ask a question here?
Regarding Paramiko/sudo commands?
Im using paramiko to edit a file on another computer that requires sudo to edit the file. But i get the error “sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified”". I've never run into this problem before, because I would simply "echo <sudo pw> | sudo <command>"
not sure how to get around this, been trying all day
05:34
Typically its a better idea to ask a proper question on the main site
Have you tried googling the error?
06:03
yes aggressively
okay ill ask there as well. thank you.
recycle bin sighs

07:27
ugh its so hard to answer SU questions but if I had the same problem Id proably know or figure out how to fix it
07:46
@HackToHell We use bearer tokens, which are exchanged during device registration based on a one-time unlock code
Users receive their unlock code via email or SMS
We are however in the process of moving to an OAuth2 based setup where users will be able to auth with FB/LinkedIn/Google and get a bearer token assigned after auth alternatively
But we haven't touched that part in the app yet
08:12
@OliverSalzburg Ah okay, so the OAuth2 way of generating tokens passed on via a API is proper
@HackToHell Yeah, they are generally referred to as "bearer tokens". You'll find a lot of information on the web
They are passed with the Authorization HTTP header as bearer <token>
HTTPS is mandatory, of course ;)
08:28
facedesk
@OliverSalzburg Of course, using a custom certificate for testing, will get one later :)
Thanks :)
@JourneymanGeek What's up !
I have to provide address proof for getting a SSL cert :|
I was trying to find a tool that would copy a larger drive to a smaller drive offline
then I realised I just needed to do it the other way around since this was an old box with one of my 30 gb hdds

@Bob: They're in the same building as... the house of mouse.

@JourneymanGeek who? what? o.o
The address? Same building as house of mouse.
And the textile center dosen't actually have many textile shops ;p
houseofmouse.com.sg (you couldn't have forgotten that early 90s web design ;p)
@Bob the case around the battery they supply functions not only as a extended battery holder, but makes a good protection too. The batts are not as powerfull as they say, which makes little sence as they have the room, and the 3 prismatic (suqare type) cells could hold that much juice. so the aleged ~9 amp is instead reality about 7,5amp making it only2x :-( the oem.
Mongodb is bloody weird
11:39
ok, this is wierd
I coulda sworn my spare drives are 30, not 40gb
clonezilla's detecting it as the latter
when my batt started getting old, i ordered a new one. (actually a set 2 phones same). and the new set was not newly made. one old battery actually had more capacity than the new. soooo in all probability they were all made at the same time, and sold later as the device became obsolete :-( which sucked.
eventually i will be able to make an extended of better quality than thiers, as the device becomes more obsolete, but the rubbery protective case, i wouldnt know how to make that as well.
Bob
Bob
@Psycogeek :\
worth it, yes, price Great, massive runtime YES, perfect stuff of best quality , naw.
Bob
Bob
@Psycogeek Problem is it's hard for me to get it here.
So I'm not sure it's worth it.
oh yea that, paying 2/3rd more for the &#%$^ shipping.
if anyone can cope with the phone being 2x weight, and the phone is already to big for front pocket (i use holster) then i would say definatly get one.
i had runtimes like that long before they made batts, and appretiate the idea and effort to supply much the same as i would have done for myself.
12:12
Am I the only one who just realized that tablet's and Nexus 4's degraded performance is a result of their NAND used almost up to 80%?
Bob
Bob
12:55
@Psycogeek Ah, pocket... that could be a problem.
I'll probably stick with my external battery pack.
13:07
heh
trying the other cheapass SSD on the underspec R60
Its actually usable. Even if I'm probably going to wear out the SSD caching paging . ;p

Oh yea.
Thanks.
@allquixotic What's the current restart script?
Hm. reload.sh looks right...ish
@Bob ~/dev/cron.sh is probably the most reliable
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Does that build the bot too?
Bob
Bob
Doesn't look like it
16:11
don't call restart.sh, restartpjs.sh, rebuild.sh, rebuildpjs.sh, etc. in the ~/dev directory!
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Do you just manually run node build.js or has that changed too?
those are for SO-ChatBotDriver
Bob
Bob
Yea, I see that now.
I'm running it from rlemon's node script in ~/dev/SO-ChatBot and that's invoked via run.sh
as for building
node build.js in ~/dev/SO-ChatBot
so really you can just stay in ~/dev/SO-ChatBot and not worry about anything in ~/dev

Awesome.

My only suspect for the moment is that Symantec SEP is blocking the connection
Bob

@albanx Depends how you installed httpd, and which IP it's bound to
i just activated the default httpd of mac
it works correctly if I type localhost or the IP in the mac
Bob

shrug

another thing I notice is that meanwhile rebooting the mac for just some seconds I can access the server from other devices

I don't use OS X.
Ahh ok
thanks anyway

I have made all the checks of the case

@Bob Man, the saturation on my local Verizon tower is really hit or miss. Last night I was getting 100 - 200 KB/s downstream, tops, with frequent dropouts into the sub-100 KB/s range, when pre-loading Fallout 4. Today, for the past 4-5 hours, I've been getting at least 2 MBps (16 Mbps) with basically zero dropouts, and frequent peaks into the 3, 4 MBps range, peak 4.5 MBps.
I've sucked down about 20 gigs in 3 hours

Q: Why is there no [desktop-shortcut] on Super User?

Dani SpringerWhy is there no desktop-shortcut tag on Super User? Is it the same as file-shortcut?

22:44
a desktop shortcut is a regular shortcut
either to a file or a web address
however the shortcut To desktop can be a symbolic link or a shortcut
smells like a meta tag ;p
Also, why are you replying to a bot?
im bored
@RecycleBin Add the above as an answer to the meta question ;)
everybody rapes the thumbs down button when I do
@RecycleBin That doesn't matter on meta ;)
22:46
ok
In any case it would be a good answer. I would vote it up.
There is no thumbs down button. ONLY ZUUUUUL
And stop being so damned negative.
Personally I think it's a bad question, as I tried to explain in my comments. But the OP got upset :/

Journeyman GeekWhat we have here is a failure to communicate. There's a few issues in play here, many of which are well, not technical. Lets start with "Work Network Admin refuses to give me a 2nd IP address". This is a right thing to do. One does not have arbitrary systems added to a work network. In many wo...

allquixoticWhoa. It sounds like you're either an intern, or a very young developer hired just out of college, with no idea of how the corporate world actually works. @JourneymanGeek I don't understand what happened in this GIF :S
23:25
wow so many comments
@allquixotic: oh the comment upvote button is hidden before you hover
I dont understand why you need WAN
cant you just have a router per building
and whoot halfway before reverseal
@RecycleBin: you don't
it may be less secure that way though
You can run your own internet. With blackjack and hookers.
23:34
since youd have to use internet instead of intranet
to share data between the two buildings
if folders are metadata then where does that metadata come from?
windows USER ?
I should know this, but colleges such round here and dont really teach this
Its embedded somewhere.
folders arn't metadata tho
a folder is a directory
I got told they were
But the directory would have metadata about it.
I mean as a icon
You sir (or lady) were misinformed.
or unclear
The icon related to a folder might be metadata.
23:42
I thought folders were just files, even windows says they are
there called file folders for a reason
What do you believe that reason to be.? Cause I suspect your wrong.
thanks!
Folders are directories
because they can be handled in the same way as a file can, cut copy, drag and drop, etc
dear god.
No offence, but I hope you're not a CS major ._.
23:47
they can, yes, but they are not files
and because they are a type of file that contain addresses to the data on the disk
more often then not a command that modifies a file for instance creating a symbol link, require, a different argument ot modify a file vs a folder
Where exactly did you read this?
I want to know so I can contact the author and tell them they are wrong.
oh god no
What book? I am serious
it wasn't a book
23:49
What scholarly source did you read?
is this what you do all day :[
it was another chatroom that isnt related to stack exchange
So random guy on the internet, gotcha
not random to me
What scholarly conditionals does this person have?
23:52
You want to hear mine? BSCE, BSCS, MSBA
I dont know what his qualifications are
it was a software and firmware engineer
if you go to tools>folder options> file types youll see folder and file folder there
oh crap windows 7 doesnt have that anymore
