Q: Vacation pay not being deducted from accrual

lauraI am so frustrated can't find anything on Intuit community. For some reason, when I pay out vacation pay to my employees, the amount is not being deducted from the the accrual. It used to be that if the accrual is $450, and you pay out the vacation pay, the next pay cheque would show accrual at ...

not a off topic question. Not a question i expect most people to know an answer for ;p
hell, i barely remember what the hell accrual is
hm, there's an answer i actually need to bring a camera to the office for >_>
(printer set up question. the final answer will probably involve dirty hacks, and screenshots taken of a printer's little LCD with a camera ;p)

@JourneymanGeek: I use the back of a legal pad for a mousepad. People lose mousepads so often here, we just stopped ordering them. We always have a large supply of legal pads beside the copier though.

@surfasb: Most of my mice are padless. this specific one feels a bit rough on this specific table. Duct tape abuse amuses me, and the pad felt a little like sandpaper

Padless. Ewww. We have a huge box of Dell wired mice that somoene found on Craigslist. I think it came out to almost $2 a mouse.

most of ours are either logitech, or some random chinese/taiwanese piece of crap
ditto with keyboards, though my own gear is somewhat better

I definitely bought my own keyboard here.
No way I was going to use those non-wrist rest Dells.
Unless I enjoy arthritis at 30.
However, I have thought about getting my own mouse here. Like an MX Revolution with like 100 buttons.

lol
the gaming logitechs arn't bad. I've got a G300 on my desktop

A: Why can't I install Modern Warfare 3?

William HilsumLooking at the second picture, it looks like you are using disk 2! Take a look back in the pack and find Disk 1, start the setup from that.

@Sathya Lol... It's no long virtualisation answer! I like the guys comments back!

I upvoted that for sheer obviousness

@WilliamHilsum yeah!

6:24 AM
I am so tired :( I hope this will get better....
@JourneymanGeek Lol, at work, the desks are so nice, but, very shiny... I use a piece of a paper with double sided tape!

@WilliamHilsum: my table is somewhat rough, and that mousepad lost the smooth serface so...

@Sathya I love his matter of fact tone to the answer.

@surfasb that's our @Wil :)

Bleh. I dislike it when people tell me I am wrong but does not tell me what I stated was wrong.
@Sathya Can mods delete accepted answers?

@Diago yes we can..

I might need you to delete this one. I am just trying to confirm my facts.

A: Is killing a process still considered bad for memory management?

DiagoIt depends. Forcing a process to end will attempt to immediately deallocate the memory, and in some cases, it will not be able to kill it at all. If we are talking about a non managed application, for example a C or C++ application, the OS will at some point clean the memory, but this is dependa...

@Diago I'm not inclined to delete it - I'm not aware if the comment is correct or not - will have to research it

Bleh. Leave it. If it's completely wrong it will get down voted.
But from everything I remember it is correct.

12:51 PM
@Sathya chuckle oh, wow.

@Sathya HAHAHA. Am I sad when I recognize everything?
@Sathya They should have had more obnoxious things like C***mongler

@Sathya Delete that answer. Based on the comments most people seem convinced I am wrong.

Q: Host system resets (crashes) when using VMWare or VirtualBox

sinni800I have been trying to install virtual systems on VMWare for a while now and encountered strange behaviour from my PC. The behaviour is as follows: On "automatic" virtualization mode it either outputs a cryptic error message (can MAYBE give later, if I can reproduce) right on startup (before ev...

If anyone remembers this issue.
I have received a log from VirtualBox, critical error: superuser.com/questions/355177/…

Hey everyone! This has been bugging me a lot today:
I have several computers behind a router.
One of them serves Windows shares and is connected to the router by ethernet cable.
The main client is connected to the router by wireless, and can connect to the shares just fine.
Today I added a switch to the mix, so that the server is now connected to the switch, which in turn is connected to the router. Poof, the wireless client can no longer connect to the server's shares. It can still ping it, attach a remote desktop session, etc., but network shares are not working.
I've rebooted router, server, client and even switch. No help.

Does anyone know where /review went?
It gives me page not found.. only on SU

:/ it works for me

@DMA57361 Bizarre... I don't know whats going on at all.
And its been doing so all day

I can get to a few other SE /review's as well
@SimonSheehan you just using superuser.com/review ? or a sub location?

@DMA57361 Thats what im using
Is just straight up broken for me

how strange

8:52 PM
Tried sub locations and got nothing too
Gaming works for me though.
So its only on here that this issue is happening

rep requirement?

As bizarre as it is.

presumably you're logged in?

@studiohack Shouldn't be... I've got less rep on gaming and it works fine. We shouldnt have a rep requirement
@DMA57361 I am. I could try going in and out.

@studiohack there isn't one for /review AFAIK

8:53 PM
Nope, login and out didnt work

:/

Wonder if I need to go to MSO..

boo. I have access... no - post on MSU, the devs track it.

Okay, sounds good.

Right now with /review a bug report will most likely be migrated to Meta by @waffles

8:56 PM
@random Do you feel it would be better placed there?

@random @SimonSheehan ^
@random is right, I think MSO is a better place after all, since they've been massively tweaking /review. sorry @SimonSheehan :P

@studiohack Its alright! Glad to get comments from everyone so quickly though :)

Q: Unable to access review page on Super User

Simon SheehanEarlier today I attempted to go to /review on Super User, only to find I got a Page Not Found error. As the day progressed, this has not changed. Logging in and out has done nothing. Different browsers have not changed a thing. What's going on?

hopefully someone will know
Anyways, how's everyone doing today?

meh
you?

Not too bad. the day had its highs and lows.

fair enough

@SimonSheehan I hope you don't mind the edits there, but that whole thing is very weird indeed

@slhck Indeed! Seems others are hitting it too!
@slhck I'm all for editing though - Thanks for adding that stuff!

I was first gonna open another bug report but then I saw you had it covered already

A: Unable to access /review page when logged in, works fine when not logged in

Mark SzymanskiI get the same problem. (Here's to prove that Simon isn't crazy.) :P

I'm not insane! :P

works for me though

Yep.
@slhck Only on this site... and so far only 10k+ users have responded to me here. Perhaps a permissions issue?

10:14 PM
probably so
but @waffles generally has some funny bugs there

Haha... we shall see :P

@DanielBeck If you're still around, do you want to help me answer a few theoretical questions or check if I'm not totally wrong?
