Q: RPSLS Game in C#

MalachiI went with what I know and can use well, not what I know and can't figure the syntax out to make it look good. so please enjoy the code and prepare to school me (probably in the basics) in C# public static void Main (string[] args) { /* Here are your rules: "Scissors cuts paper, ...

Someone nailed some good isues on my 'revisited RPSLS' question ... all legitimate, good answer.

A: Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock Revisited

abuzittin gillifircaI agree with Simon in that you should extract game logic in a separate class, which would be your Model component of your applications the MVC. // The computer chooses their weapon. final Weapon compweap = computer.nextMove(); // the human chooses thir weapon final Weapon humanweap = human.nextM...

I think we should all see if our games are on-topic for gamedev.stackexchange.com

@Malachi why? you mean we should post them there?

yeah, we talk a lot about the design of these games

I don't know that site, but the problem isn't necessarly a game..

Q: Easiest turn-base games you can think of?

Edgar MirandaI'm planning to get into the process of programming multiplayer turn-base games. I would like to start off by making some of the simplest (yet fun) multiplayer turn-base games out there. What are some that you can provide? For example: Tic-Tac-Toe Rock-Paper-Scissors Checkers Some not so easy...

A: What are good games to "earn your wings" with?

zaratustraI posted this ladder at TIGsource a while ago. It starts from the very basic to the very complex. "Guess the number" / Hangman (basic interface, select data from a database) Tic-Tac-Toe / Rock-Paper-Scissors (turn-based gameplay, opponent AI) Arkanoid / Pong (collisions, stable frame rate, scor...

@Malachi I don't think CR questions are on-topic anywhere else on SE..

@retailcoder maybe not as is, but I think it is worth getting our code out there as many places as possible, we may have to edit the post a little bit.

@Malachi like, cross-posting CR questions in the name of visibility? not sure I'm buying...

they may have a different take on the design of the game. which is really where we should be posting for Game Design/Development anyway

the way I see GameDev, I'd be asking something like "what would be the best way to model player selections in a RPSLS game?"

Q: Another Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock implementation

Simon André ForsbergThe Challenge Create an implementation of "Rock - Paper - Scissors - Lizard - Spock". The rules: Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitate lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes r...

Q: Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock challenge in C++

JamalHere's my take at the Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock challenge. The outcomes are as follows: Scissors cuts paper paper covers rock rock crushes lizard lizard poisons Spock Spock smashes scissors scissors decapitate lizard lizard eats paper paper disproves Spock Spock vap...

@retailcoder, Fizz Buzz Woof[edit]
One variation has expanded to such an extent as to have its own related name.[citation needed] Many of the above rules are the same. In this case, the number 3 becomes Fizz, 5 becomes Buzz, and 7 becomes Woof. The main rules in this game are that any number that contains the number or is divisible by that number is replaced by an occurrence of the word. If the number has 2 instances of that number (i.e. 33 or 55) and is divisible by that number, then the word is said three times in this example. The additional rule is that the words (if more than one occur
only we would use "banana" instead of "woof" and for prime numbers we would say "pie in the face" and squares would be "L7"
and fibonacci numbers would be fibo-fib
I am just playing....but this looks like a lot of fun to try to do.

@Malachi I guess we'd have to agree on a "core" set of rules and participants elaborate as they see fit; like we keep fizz and buzz and the rest is up to the programmer? ...I was getting in the mindset for tic-tac-toe though :)

I agree with the FizzBuzz thing. It seems more fun (at least if these similar rules are followed), which is an aspect of these challenges. Tic-Tac-Toe is just... Tic-Tac-Toe. Nothing special about it, at least if implemented in its original form.

I like Fizz-Buzz-Banana :)
@Jamal is it possible that putting has bumped the WC post out of the community bulletin?

I suppose that's possible. I can remove it just in case.
