@curiousdannii The answer started well by focusing on the meaning of "God" and "equal", but instead of bringing in Ken Graham's communicatio idiomatum or by DJClayworth's mailroom analogy the conclusion is wrong and ended up arguing against.
@curiousdannii Which theology do you agree with? I welcome a book recommendation that argues the master concept in philosophical and anthropological terms like how Horton sets up the stage in Chapters 1-4 for arguing covenant theology.

@GratefulDisciple But the answer does say that Jesus is God by essence, and if it means that Jesus is equal with God by position, then I think that's compatible with Chalcedonian Christology. But the answer could be clearer, and it's not essential the question be reopened.

@GratefulDisciple I haven't found a Biblical theology framework I can entirely agree with yet. I'm closest to New Covenant Theology, but it doesn't site entirely right with me. Some of their emphases are off.

@curiousdannii I assume you meant New Covenant Theology promoted by Steve Lehrer (whole book PDF link in the wiki)? Thanks, I'll keep that in mind while reading through Horton's book. I found an intro to NCT in this paper. Do you think it's a fair presentation?

@GratefulDisciple I have Wells and Zaspel's book. Haven't read anything by Lehrer.
I don't know what the state of the art from the SBC seminaries is.
