We are being inundated with questions from people who do no basic research. From where I sit, we do not need to make any of them feel welcome. Seriously, we need to stop this from becoming a forum ... else we lose this site's value. Signal to noise ratio is under attack. If this site is to become "random mentally lazy person asks a not researched question" then shut the site down. Seriously.
If you don't enforce standards, you have no standards.

@KorvinStarmast are you referring to bad Q's or bad A's?
I'd like to replace either the "Truth Questions" or "Philosophical" close reason with:

> Questions that could be answered from multiple Christian viewpoints are not allowed, unless specifically asking an [overview question](https://christianity.meta.stackexchange.com/q/870/4)

@PeterTurner Both, but mostly low quality Q's.
bad Q's encourage bad A's also ...
@PeterTurner That would be cool, though I guess that's a feature request?

Nope I can just do it, we have 3 custom close reasons that mods can edit
I'll put out some feelers on meta, probably worth waiting till @curiousdannii wakes up and puts in a few cents. @MasonWheeler what do you think?
I don't think people have been using the "Truth Question" close reason in favor of the opinion based. And the opinion based close reason really embitters "Bible Christians".

@PeterTurner I rarely use "truth" close reason, and more often use "opinion based" on questions that are badly scoped, trollish, and are of that general shape.
@PeterTurner Keep the philosophical close reason, please, since there is a nice niche that it fits into.

I think that's a good idea especially since it's got a link to that post from Caleb that you linked.
Seems to me that none of the custom close reasons should overlap with "opinion based" and we could probably remove the Pastoral Advice close reason too.
We could replace that with Find-it-for-me-in-the-bible. Or "Questions about misplaced cassette tapes from the 80's"

Please retain pastoral advice close reason. There is a non trivial category of question that fits that, in my experience.

Link them to "Brothers, we are not Christians"

@PeterTurner I forgot that link was accessible to 10K non-mods
@PeterTurner I hadn't thought that the custom close reasons needed an update, but you know I think you're right, I like that.
The pastoral advice one is pretty important IMO.
I admit that most of the time I use the philosophical one for bizarre semi-nonsense questions
@KorvinStarmast Lack of research in theory shouldn't be a close reason. And sometimes they can still be reasonable questions. Which questions did you think were most egregious?
BH.SE is now out of Beta, so you could ask for them to be made a migration target
